Slumped comfortably on the couch, A.J. sat sketching, with a very untouched sandwich sitting on a plate on the nearby endtable. He was working on a new piece of abstract art and ended up getting rather engrossed in it. To a point where he not only forgot about the sandwich, but he was also forgetting about where he was, what he was doing, what it was about. Entirely caught up in the moment. He loved when the art took on a force of its own and simply seemed to be using him and his pencils as a channel for giving them life....

Z was by all appearances totally serious when she told him, "I regret to inform you I'm contractually obligated to prevent any and all attempts at global domination. Especially if you're extraterrestrial in origin. Or a demon. You're not a demon, are you?"

A.J. ignored the first thing that popped into his head about being a demon, mostly because it was not only entirely untrue (as far as he knew), but he also had no idea where a comment about how he was in the sack had come from in the first place. "Definitely not a demon," he chuckled. "Or an extraterrestrial. Or even serious. I'm just drawing." He held up the sketchbook to prove it. "I regret to inform you that there will be no prevention necessary."

Z mock-pouted. "And here I thought I was going to get to commit justice. Oh, well."

"Do you really want to commit justice?" A.J. pouted back a little. "I could maybe pretend? My fake super power is creating art that makes people act all pretentious. You could stop me from turning everyone into pretentious art critics if you really wanted to..."

Z pondered this proposal. "Would I have to put you in tiny card jail?"

"...Tiny card jail?"

"As part of my leet crime fighter of the future gear I have this widget that'll stick guilty criminals in a card about yea big." Z held up her fingers to indicate roughly the size of a playing card. "It's really neat. I stuck the djinn that was possessing my teammate in one earlier this year."

"That sounds...." A.J. blinked, not entirely sure exactly how it would feel until he took a moment to think about it.

"It sounds like it might tickle a bit."

"Huh." Z had to think about that one for a moment. "You know, I don't know. I guess I could ask Jack when he gets out. If he's still talking to me."

"Jack? When he gets out?" A.J.'s eyebrows rose. "You mean you've got someone in one right now?"

Z rolled her eyes. "No, dude. Well, except the djinn-thingy, and we're not letting him out. My friend Jack, though, he's in jail back home."

"Oh...." A.J. pressed his lips together a bit in a poor effort to keep from looking a little dejected. "...What for?"

"Theft," Z said, watching A.J. warily for his reaction. "And resisting arrest, I guess."

There wasn't much of a reaction, just a slightly sympathetic look for the situation in general. "Was he stealing anything good?"

"Nah, just clothes," Z told him.
