2nd Floor Common Room, Thursday Evening

Andrew was tired of sitting in his room, so he brought out a stack of books and set up shop on a table in the common room. He was working feverishly on translating a text written in ancient Persian. And totally keeping his ears open for anything interesting.

Still a little upset with Berthold eating two of her dresses, River had decided that getting out of the room and away from the monster was a good idea. Noticing someone in the second floor common room, she peeked inside. Her mind picked up words in a strange language and she blinked, curious.

Before leaving to pick up Charlie for their date, John stopped in the common room, hair still slightly pink and glittery. Noticing the books, he asked, "Andrew, what're you up to?"

Andrew glanced up and noticed River. He grinned and waved, "Hey there!"

Andrew didn't look up, but he easily recognized the voice, "Just working on an annoying little passage in this text." He was flipping pages like crazy and frowning.

"Didn't mean to interrupt," John said, taking a closer look at Andrew's books. "What language is that?"

"It's most closely related to ancient Persian," Andrew replied, glancing up. "Oh my god! What's up with the hair? You gonna' get the party started?"

Neil was headed down the stairs, dressed for work and with his script under his hand.

Catching sight of Andrew in the common room, he paused on the stairs and waved.

"Evening, Andrew."

John sighed. "It's been three days and it won't completely wash out. Trust that this is not on purpose."

"Old texts," River said, entering the room. "Useful?" She reached out for one of the books.

"Your hair is pretty," River said, smiling and eyeing John's hair.

"Faile thinks so, too," John said.

"You are not convinced," River replied. "Perhaps an attempt to try and force you to broaden your horizons?"

This wasn't his floor, but that rarely stopped anyone. He was wearing a t-shirt that said;

QUESTION AUTHORITY

on the front. And on the back was written;

IT'S NOT JUST YOUR RIGHT,
IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

"Hey folks." he waved. "Anything exciting happening?"

Andrew tilted his head to one side, "No but yes." Andrew's voice was a little on the whiny side. "It's useful in that it's helping me understand the grammatical -- if you can call it that -- base of the language, but the text itself is pretty dull."

Andrew looked up at the sound of a voice he knew oh so well, "Neil! Hi!" He waved.

Andrew nodded while surveying John's head, "It's really not that bad. It's kinda cute on you."

Andrew glanced up, he didn't say anything at the moment, but he did notice the t-shirt.

"It was more a desire to make me miserable for her entertainment and to get back at me for taking her to three minute dating," John explained.

Leaning against the wall for a moment he grinned at the mountain of texts surrounding the other boy.

"Some light reading for the night?"

"Faile kept saying it was pretty to stop me from being mad about it," he said. "I just want it to wash out already."

Billy nodded cordially to the new kid. "Hey."

Billy did a doubletake at the hair. "Dude, what happened to your hair?"

"My fake little sister thought it would be 'pretty,'" John informed Billy.

Andrew smiled and shrugged, "I'm just trying to work on a few things." He looked Neil over (his smile might have widened), "Are you heading out?"

"Was it in retaliation for anything?" Billy tried not to laugh.
