Fourth floor common room: Sunday morning

After returning from the stables, Karal had taken a shower, changed into his robes, and headed for the common room. Tea was quickly made, and now he was sitting at the table, a pot of it in front of him and a cooling cup by his hand.

He was holding his Vkandis medal, fingers tracing each ray of the sun, lost partly in thought, partly in prayer.

"Seely," Gavin said, waving. "You're up early."

"Gavin," Seely nodded. "Just felt bouncier than usual today."

"I would've never put the words bouncy and Seely in the same sentence," he said, amused. "Bouncy's good then?"

"Bouncy's very good," Seely said. "Especially when it involves breaking decrees."

"Take your word for it," he said and laughed. He looked down once at Seely's hand and asked, "How are you otherwise?"

"Seems to be healing," Seely said, flexing his hand. "Doesn't even hurt anymore. Not really, anyway."

"Good," Gavin said, nodding. "I've still got a small sting but other than that, it's just ugly words now."

"Someone really needs to do something about her," Seely said softly, still flexing his hand. "Before she goes to far and does something permanent."

"Ideas?" Gavin asked. "I'm not coming up with anything that doesn't involve a blaster."

"A few," Seely replied. "Most of them involve some form of strategic nudity."

Gavin coughed in surprise. "Really?"

"Haven't you heard about the fine tradition of naked mutinies?"

"Maybe a mention," he admitted. "I thought it was something specific to this world that I wouldn't understand."

"It's a time honoured tradition," Seely replied. What? Twice totally made it a tradition.

"And it involves?"

"Nudity and mutinying, although the second is the only compulsory part."

"Full nudity?" Gavin asked even though it was probably a dumb question.

"We allow degrees, but full is preferred."

"Aren't you afraid she'll do something to your...important parts?"

"Only if I don't tell her about it beforehand. Girlfriends have to know about this kind of thing."

Gavin made a face and said, "I meant Umbridge not your girlfriend."

"She'll probably be too busy having a stroke to do anything."

"I hope so for your sake," he said. "I might have to sit that protest out."

"Be a sad thing if you do," Seely said.

"I'm not sure I should be running around naked when so many people from my world are around here," he explained.
