Third Floor Common Room: Morning after first period

Mel was out later than usual patrolling the vampire free island and is still feeling the effect even after her morning class.

Which is why she's slumped on the couch, barely awake and wondering why small children from some reality show are telling her to play a pretend instrument so that a car with drums for wheels can go faster.

"Come on now, Carmine
You can win the race
Because you are an amazing music car!

Mel stared some more at the screen and wondered if someone had slipped something into her coffee.

"If we want Carmine to go faster, we need to help him by playing our bass drum. Take your hand like this and beat your pretend drum and go BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!"

Mel took a sip of her coffee in the vain effort to get herself awake enough to change the channel.

River was heading out for a walk before class, but stopped by the third floor common room when she heard the song from the TV. She sat down next to Mel, seemingly meserized by the screen.

River tore her gaze from the TV, looked at Mel and smiled. "No vampires?"

"Meant on Fandom, not on TV." She grinned back. "Can see the TV for myself."

Suddenly looking serious, River asked: "You ever doubt the meaning of it?"

River said nothing. Fate didn't seem to have left her with a similar purpose in life.

"No," River replied, but didn't elaborate further.

[early bedtime for me tonight!]

Robin shuffled into the room, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.

*Yaawn* "Morning."
