The Roof - Late, Late Friday Night

~~Hiding~~ Staying in his room all week with tiger cub!Chad had made Teddy long for a little open space. And it had been ages since he stretched out all his muscles. His shirt was left downstairs in his room. No need to ruin another one because he forgot how much damage his wings did to clothing.

So there he was up on the roof, not being emo, just... contemplative.

Yes, contemplative.

There was something about the night that was calling to Ronan, something about being under the open stars; maybe it was the adventures of the previous two nights, and the fact that they'd necessitated staying up late, but he couldn't quite get to sleep, feeling quite restless instead.

So he made his way to the roof, his shirt hanging open and his feet bare, aching for the starlight.

Teddy hadn't noticed him yet, instead he sat on the ledge of the building, looking down at the lawn below. His raised his arms over his head, bones in his back popping as he stretched out, wings following suit as he did so.

Ah yes, this was much better.

Ronan couldn't help but smile a bit when he saw Teddy -- and stare a little bit in shock when he saw the wings. "That is so cool," he said, as he closed the door and leaned back against it.

Jumping a bit at the noise, Teddy turned to see who was speaking. He hadn't expected anyone to be up this late. "Ronan!" The wings tucked back, almost shyly. "Hey."

"Hey." Ronan stepped forward a bit. "I didn't know you had wings. Is that part of the shapeshifting?"

"Yeah, part of the shapeshifting," Teddy replied, really beginning to wish he had brought a shirt up with him.

Ronan, meanwhile, was rather glad that Teddy hadn't brought a shirt, although he wasn't going to say anything about that. "That's... wow. So, you fly? Like, under your own power?"

The wings, which had been starting to disappear as Teddy became more self conscious of them, perked back up. "Yeah. I don't get to do it much, but..." He grinned. Flying was one of the best parts of his powers.

Ronan couldn't help but grin back. "That is so cool. I totally need to go see if there's any possible way I can do something like that with wizardry, because it... yeah. Just. Seriously, man, flying!"

This was a subject Teddy could relax talking about and not be so aware of Ronan's very nice torso. "It's not too hard to learn. But I fell down way too many times to recommend it to someone else."

"Yeah?" Ronan said, laughing a little. "I suppose that would be a concern. You didn't hurt yourself too badly, I hope."

Teddy laughed too and shook his head. "Another part of the shape shifting. I don't stay hurt too long."

"Oh! Cool." Ronan grinned. "I guess I won't see you around the clinic much, then. Which is good! Because not being in the clinic means that you're not hurt."

Teddy gave him a rueful little smile. "No, I only show up when Chad's hurt."

"... Why do I get the feeling that this happens with startling regularity?"

"Only twice now, but..." Teddy sighed. "It's still two times too many if you ask me."

Ronan came up and sat on the ledge beside Teddy. "Yeah, I totally get that," he said. "It's... it must be hard for you to see him hurt."

"It sounds stupid to people when I say it, but... he just seems so-" Teddy shrugged, unsure how to phrase it. "-fragile. You know?"

Ronan considered that. It certainly wasn't the first word he'd apply to Chad, but... "I think I can see that. Or at least understand why you'd see it that way," Ronan replied, finally. "I don't think it's stupid at all." He shifted a bit on the ledge, trying to get comfortable.

And that would be Ronan, plummeting to the ground.

This? SO not helping Teddy with his issues over people getting hurt too easily.

In an instant, Teddy was going after him, wings tucked in to stay streamlined as he reached Ronan and then bursting out when he caught him to stop the descent.

There were three spells already lining up in Ronan's head practically as soon as he was falling, but they were jolted from his mind at the abrupt shock of the ceasing descent. "Oof!" Ronan uttered, startled, as Teddy stopped the fall.

Clinging tightly, but not too tightly as he was always keenly aware of how much he could hurt someone, Teddy flapped his wings twice. Two powerful bursts and they were back above the roof, landing gently.

Teddy didn't let go yet. If Ronan was very observant he might notice how fast Teddy's heart was beating from the scare.

Ronan was observant, and he did notice -- and, perhaps, Teddy might notice how fast Ronan's was beating. It was mostly -- although not entirely -- from the scare, but you wouldn't get him to admit what the rest was. "Thanks," he managed to get out, finally, as he hugged Teddy back, just as tightly. "That was... that could have been bad."

And about now Teddy was once again painfully aware of just how shirtless he was. "No problem," He replied, a little out of breath, but not from exertion. "Just... don't do that again."

Ronan bit off a slightly hysterical laugh. "Trust me, I'll do everything within my power to avoid it."

He wasn't exactly pulling away, and if he moved his head just slightly, he could...

Teddy closed his eyes for just a moment, enjoying the warmth from Ronan and how nice he smelled.

There was a strange niggling in the back of his mind. Something trying to tell him something important...

Chad!

He jerked back, blush spreading down from his face onto his chest too. "Good. Good."

Ronan, too, came back to himself, and pulled out of the hug a little bit -- still in contact with Teddy, but not quite so... yeah. Not quite so going places that he shouldn't with someone who has a boyfriend. "Er, yeah," he said. "So... yeah. Thanks."

Teddy nodded, looking down at his feet. Veeery interesting place to look, really.

"No problem."

He finally glanced up after a moment, wings shrinking up and into his back. "Be careful, okay?" He told Ronan, genuine concern in his eyes.

Ronan nodded. "I will," he replied. He turned to go, pulling away from Teddy. "I... think I'm going to go to bed now."

Teddy nodded. "I'll see you later."

He wasn't read to go downstairs himself yet and stayed where he was.

Ronan smiled, a bit softly, and then left the roof, leaving Teddy to his thoughts.
