Gym, Tuesday, noon

Even with the Cheer Camp Buffy had felt like she hadn't done enough punching and kicking since she came back to Fandom. She was definitely making up for it now. She was dancing around the punching bag and looked like she was having an enormous amount of fun.

"Want to snack on my friends? Oh, no, not here you don't! Take that! And that!"

Okay, maybe she needed a little work on her quips.

Having spent the morning visiting Kerrigan and Anakin, River was in a good mood. For some reason a good mood could sometimes make her want to kick things, so she headed down to the gym.

As Buffy looked quite absorbed by her kicking and punching, River tried sneaking up behind her.

"Who am I? I'm the terror that lurks in the night, I'm your--" Buffy spun around, fist headed straight for River's face.

Cassandra spent most of her day wandering around campus, trying to figure out where things were and what the layout was like. Maps weren't really much good to her, so she learned early how to wander effectively.

Eventually she found the gym, and peeked in curiously, trying to figure out what that yelling sound was.

"You call THAT a fashion statement? Sweetie, only someone who's been dead for a hundred years would call that 'fashion'." Buffy paused her punching to make quotation marks in the air.

Cassandra was confused, who was the girl talking to. Still, she moved pretty well, and that could excuse a bit of the crazy. Cassandra stepped tentatively into the gym, looking around at the equipment, comparing it to what she was used to.

Buffy spun to deliver a round kick and spotted Cassandra. She finished the kick, then turned, pushing her hair out of her face. "Hi, are you new? Are you lost?"

"New," Cassandra nodded. "Exploring."

"Well, this is the gym," Buffy said helpfully, gesturing. "The cheerleaders have it on Wednesday, and I'm the captain so I'd have to say we're awesome even if we weren't. But we totally are!"

"Cheerleaders?" Cassandra frowned, looking pointedly at the bag that Buffy had been beating up.

Buffy followed her gaze and shrugged. "I'm a Slayer too. I want to keep fit in case there's an invasion of vampires. It could happen. Everyone else have invaded this place." She looked back at the new girl. "So do you cheer or slay?"

"I don't kill," was Cassandra's immediate response.

Buffy's eyebrows shot up. "Not even evil monsters? ...Although not killing nice monsters is good. You should always check if they're nice first."

"Killing is bad." She sounded pretty sure of herself.

"Not if it's evil vampires." Buffy sounded equally sure.

Cassandra frowned again, "Dying is not fun. You shouldn't make other people do it."

Buffy frowned back. "Vampires aren't people. They're evil soulless creatures from hell that look like people. And if you don't slay them there'll be lots and they'll eat people."

"There are other ways to stop bad people than killing them," Cassandra insisted. She'd killed once, and in her book that was one time too many.

Buffy gave her the look of 'I'm talking to a crazy person'. "Riiight. What do you know about vampires, anyway?" Maybe the girl was one of those freaky Anne Rice people..?

"Fought a man who said he was one, once. He wasn't." That was pretty much it, really.

Buffy squinted in thought. "I don't think that counts," she said finally. "But I'm all for not killing people! Just evil monsters are different from evil people. My world doesn't exactly have an evil monster jail or whatever."

Cassandra frowned, "Why not?" It seemed like a good question, really.

"Most people don't know that monsters are real," Buffy explained. She shrugged. "My world is weird, what can I say?"

"But can't they see them?" Cassandra was confused!

Robin was curious about the gym, and wondered if if it'd be possible to improve upon his hopping still, already rather nice, him being a frog, but he intended to try out for cheerleaders again, so he thought some extra oomph couldn't hurt.

All the equipment was too big for him it seemed.

It took Buffy a while to spot him, but when she did, she gave a little wave. "Hi!"

"Hi! You're, Buffy right?" He started doing stretching exercises.

"That's me," Buffy agreed. "You're... Robin?" Hey, it wasn't that many frogs at the school.

"Yep that's who I am. Are there going to be cheerleader tryouts this semester?"

Buffy nodded. "Probably. We have two spaces to fill." She grinned. "Are you going to try out?"

"Uh huh, I figure third time's the charm maybe."

"Could happen!" Buffy nodded again. "And you're working out and everything. Totally a plus."

"If you want to try out, maybe you could practice routines?" Buffy suggested.

Buffy chewed her lip thoughtfully. "It might be? But you could come by the practice tomorrow!
