Third Floor Common Room: Evening

After putting off homework as long as possible, Ron figured he could push it even further by investigating the common room and trying to figure out this Tee-Vee thing he'd heard about.

After finding the remote and smashing several buttons, Ron managed to turn on the TV to find two sportscasters on.

"Hi. I'm Casey McCall and this is Dan Rydell. Welcome to Sports Night."

Ron blinked at the Tee-Vee. "Well, it's nice to meet you Dan and Casey. I'm Ron."

"Tonight on Sports Night we're going to take a look back at the US Open."

"Would you mind giving an update on England's Quidditch teams?" Ron asked politely. "I don't get the Daily Prophet here and-"

"And then later we'll go over the scores from today's college football games," the Tee-Vee continued.

"Could you at least give me the standing for the Chudley Cannons?" Ron begged.

"But first a word from our sponsor."

"Bloody hell, can't you hear me?"

Dawn stuck her head in when she heard the yelling. "You, uh, know they can't hear you, right?"

"Then why did they introduce themselves?" Ron asked looking confused.

Z leaned in the door and said, "It's called a TV, it can't hear you, welcome to Fandom."

"I knew that!" Ron said feeling his ears grow a little hot. "I mean that it was called a Tee-Vee."

Cedric found himself down one floor and found that yelling vaguely familiar. He followed it and found he'd been right. And now he wondered if Harry'd told Ron about him or not.

Best to find out, he guessed. "I know you."

"I have no idea," she said, flopping on a couch. "Maybe to be polite?"

"They're recordings," Harry said, wandering in. "Bit like a Pensieve, or a picture."

"Well," said Z, "now you know more. It can't hear you." She gestured to the TV. "Those guys are reading a script."

"Well... It's very confusing," Ron said looking very embarrassed as he mashed the buttons on the remote some more. "This should come with instructions."

"Well then how do I get them to tell me the quidditch standings?" Ron said continuing to press buttons on the remote as though that might fix that issue.

"It does, but most people just throw them out or lose them." Ron's behavior didn't seem so odd--Giles couldn't figure out their tv remote either. "Don't you have remotes in England?"

Ron blinked. Harry had told him but seeing him in person...

"Hey Cedric," Ron said after a moments pause or two. "It's... um. Good to see you. Harry said you were here."

After going to see Aravis, Hermione came back downstairs to find people in her common room. She loved how normal this felt now. Really.

"You've met the television," she noted.

"Can we get it to tell me the quidditch standings?" Ron asked hopefully.

"What's Quidditch?" Haku asked curiously as he went into the common room to get something to drink. "I don't remember reading about that in any of my culture books."

"Yes, but it's not cooperating," Ron whined. "There's nothing on here about quidditch."

"Probably not," Harry laughed. "Sorry, mate."

Meg had been exploring other floors and couldn't help but stop and stare at the kid shouting at the TV.

"You don't look too surprised," he said, stepping inside. "Talk to Harry or Hermione?"

"What's quidditch?" Z asked. "Never heard of it."

"Probably," Ron sighed tossing the remote to the side. "But I usually don't deal with TV's. Only Muggles use those."

"There won't be," she told him. "Quidditch isn't a Muggle sport. They're not likely to mention it. Sorry."

"It's a sport!" Ron said gleefully happy to explain it to someone. "It's played on flying brooms. There's two teams made up of chasers, beaters, a keeper and a seeker. There's also three types of balls a quaffle, bludgers and a golden snitch. Now-"

Someone may want to stop him.

"What's a mu--" That word registered from Umbridge's tirades over the PA system, and Dawn immediately got defensive. "You take that back!"

"Well what is this thing good for?" Ron said pressing more buttons.
