Second Floor Common Room; Saturday Night.
Turtle was partially bored and Turtle had been sitting in her room, trying to think of even more ways to try to situate herself in a standing where she'd be a good, easy choice for her fellow sophomores to vote in to represent them in the student council. A small rumble from her stomach and a reminder of her sweet tooth had the perfect idea: food, of course! Sweet, to be specific! Cupcakes!
There was one problem. Turtle wasn't exactly much of a cook. Bad cupcakes could have bad results. She considered just going to J,GOB, getting some, and sharing them, but that didn't seem to reflect well on her tenacity. She thought a little harder.
Oh, sure, there were still J,GOB cupcakes there, yes, for those who wouldn't want to wait. But Turtle had also picked up a great many supplies for the opportunity for people to make their own cupcakes to their own tastes, the things scattered all around the kitchen and a ridiculous amount of pans and toppings and everything. Quite a nice spread. And, subtly, a seemingly unfinished "Vote for Turtle" sign placed on the counter, as if Turtle had merely just paused her work for the 'spontaneous' cupcake smörgåsbord.
Now, hopefully some people who could actually make them well would show up. Currently, though, Turtle was trying her hand at ultra-sugar-Pixi-Stix-Gumboreo Cupcakes.

"Yes, I'm down in 218, so just a few doors down from you, I guess. I am new, a junior. And thank you, it's a nickname actually, but I guess it's an interesting one. Is...Turtle your real name?"
Possibly she might have to try herself one of these 'pixie sticks'.

She picked up one of the purple pixi stix and eyed it thoughtfully. "How do you eat them?"

She watched as the girl inhaled the blue sugar, and made a face. That looked dangerous in so many ways. "And it tastes good?"

"Maybe I'll try it later. May I help you with the baking? I'm not very good at it, but I know enough to measure and stir."

Good thing she'd been dressed to go to the stables. It took about a minute and a half for her to wind up covered in flour.

"So, where are you from, Beauty?" she asked, tongue poking out of the corner of her mouth as she went to try to pour the batter into the waiting tray of bright, colorful cupcake papers. "I'm from this time period, but a different place. Same country and everything, though, which is mostly just boring."
no subject
"Different time and different country, but..." She thought about what Sora had said. "The same world, I guess? I mean, we seem to share the same history."

She swiped her hand -- and some more flour -- across her forehead and then began to carefully mix in the liquid portions. "I think I'm adjusting pretty well, honestly. I like taking classes, and I've met some really nice people. It's the first time I've ever been in a proper school, but I've always wanted to go to one so I'm very happy to be here."
It also meant putting off the revelation of whatever fate awaited her at the castle, so she was silently grateful for that as well.

She grinned sideways at Turtle, and stuck her finger into the batter for a taste test. "Oh!" Beauty suddenly got the point of what Turtle was doing. "They're miniature cakes!"

She smiled, nodding at Turtle's assessment of the cupcakes. "The batter tastes good, at any rate. So I think that's a good sign? I guess I'm supposed to put that colored sugar stuff in now?"

"It's probably just that I don't know yet how to relate to everyone here," she said, feeling guilty about having spoken badly of a teacher who was obviously a favorite of the other girl's. "My tutors were always very proper and bland, I guess that's what I'm used to."

Because yeah, she could have been stuck with dull teachers who just droned on about proper pronunciation and poetic symbolism and sucked all the interest out of a subject. "I should try harder to get into the spirit of things," she decided.

She drew back, another second of being thoughtful and then presented Beauty with a thumbs-up. "Grade A Pixi Stix Batter, Beauty! Let's get 'em poured!"
