Second Floor Common Room; Saturday Night.

Turtle was partially bored and Turtle had been sitting in her room, trying to think of even more ways to try to situate herself in a standing where she'd be a good, easy choice for her fellow sophomores to vote in to represent them in the student council. A small rumble from her stomach and a reminder of her sweet tooth had the perfect idea: food, of course! Sweet, to be specific! Cupcakes!

There was one problem. Turtle wasn't exactly much of a cook. Bad cupcakes could have bad results. She considered just going to J,GOB, getting some, and sharing them, but that didn't seem to reflect well on her tenacity. She thought a little harder.

Oh, sure, there were still J,GOB cupcakes there, yes, for those who wouldn't want to wait. But Turtle had also picked up a great many supplies for the opportunity for people to make their own cupcakes to their own tastes, the things scattered all around the kitchen and a ridiculous amount of pans and toppings and everything. Quite a nice spread. And, subtly, a seemingly unfinished "Vote for Turtle" sign placed on the counter, as if Turtle had merely just paused her work for the 'spontaneous' cupcake smörgåsbord.

Now, hopefully some people who could actually make them well would show up. Currently, though, Turtle was trying her hand at ultra-sugar-Pixi-Stix-Gumboreo Cupcakes.

Oh, another familiar face! Beauty waved, sending a spray of flour through the air.

"Have a cupcake, Anne!"

"Hello, Beauty!" returned Anne with a bright smile, pleased to see the girl she was sure was another kindred spirit. "Oh, are you helping to bake them? I'm sure you're not half as hopeless in the kitchen as I am."

"I'm very hopeless in the kitchen, unless I've got someone to tell me what I should be doing," Beauty insisted, with a smile. "But Turtle gave me a recipe, and there isn't much more to this than measuring and mixing, so I'm pretty sure I can manage that."

She offered Anne the spoon from the batch she'd just finished. "Anne, do you know if you have any English translations of Le Morte d'Arthur at your bookshop?"

"Oh, I'm quite certain we do," Anne said confidently. "I'm sure I saw one or two copies while I was browsing through the Arthurian legends last week. If you'd like, I can find one for you tomorrow. I'm much more at home in the bookshop than I am in the kitchen, I'm afraid, as in either case I'd be far too caught up in some story or other, and the bookshop is just the place for such things whereas the kitchen is most certainly not," she concluded with a laugh.

"Unless your job in the kitchen is to entertain the cooks by reading," Beauty pointed out. "I used to do that sometimes for my sisters, when they wanted me out of the way of their work."

She looked over her shoulder and smiled gratefully at Anne. "Could you really find one for me? I want to give it to someone to read, and my only copy is in French, and I'm not sure if he reads French or not. Will you be there tomorrow for me to come and get it?"

"The kitchen at Green Gables isn't big enough for that," Anne said merrily. "And of course I'll be there tomorrow. It's my day to work, after all. I'd be more than happy to set a copy aside for someone I like to consider a kindred spirit."

That earned Anne another pleased smile from Beauty. "Thank you, Anne. I'll come by for sure, then. Maybe you can tell me something about your favorite books, things that you think I'd like to read. I can already tell that my pay is going to be almost entirely spent on buying books. Really, it's a good thing for poor Greatheart that the school keeps him in food."

Anne laughed. "You don't want me to tell you all about that now, do you? I'm liable to talk your ear right off. It might be better for me to make you a list, and at this rate I'm afraid that all my pay will be spent on books and I'll find myself sleeping in the hallway when I run out of room for everything!"
