The picnic tables in front of the dorms: Sunday afternoon

Karal had been working in his room most of the day, but it was gorgeous outside, no sign of rain, and he was getting a bit sick of being cooped up in there, so he packed up all his papers and carried them downstairs to the picnic tables.

As it happened, they also gave him a lot more space to spread out, so that's what he did, covering one table completely.

Just in case, he made sure everything was held down with rocks so it wouldn't blow away, then settled in to writing his report to send home to Karse.

"Sure!" Molly smiled and sat down next to him. "I'm just a good guesser," she said about the water. "Working on stuff from home?" she asked.

"I am. A report for Solaris," he explained, unscrewing the bottle and taking a small sip. "How did you know where to find me?"

"I was heading back up to my room after hanging out at flag football practice and I saw you out a window," she explained.

"I am very glad you did." Karal reached for her hand, and turned so he was facing her. "How was practice? I'm sorry I didn't come to watch you."

She took his hand and threaded her fingers with his. "Oh, you didn't miss me playing. I was only there to watch and talk to John and Dawn. Today was just getting any new people up to speed anyway so not much happened."

Carefully clearing a spot on the table, he set his bottle down, then lifted his hand to touch her face. "So long as you enjoyed yourself, and if I'm here I will come to the game," he said and leaned forward to kiss her lightly.

Molly's stomach got all fluttery when he touched her and she let her eyes fall shut when he kissed her. Leaning forward just a little, she kissed him back just as lightly.

Karal smiled and sat back, letting his hand fall. "You are well?" he asked.

"Yes," she said, leaning against his shoulder. "It's been a nice day so far. How about you? Did you remember to eat today?"

"Inara brought me an apple, and I am doing well. I was working in my room, but it was too nice a day to stay there." He nodded at the paper covered tabletop. "Which is how I arrived out here."

"Do you have a lot to do before you go back tomorrow?"

"I must finish this," he touched the papers he'd been working on, "for Solaris, and there are a few more reports I need to review..." Karal frowned thoughtfully and leaned against her. "And I believe that is all," he said, sounding surprised. "Though I do need to study for classes."

"I wish I could help," Molly said, looking at the Karsite script. "Do you need any help studying?" she asked hopefully.

He didn't, not really, but she looked so hopeful. "Perhaps we could study for Friday's class together?" he suggested, then actually thought about what Friday's class was and went pink.

Molly raised her eyebrows at him and smirked when she saw him start to blush. "I'd be more than happy to study for Friday's class with you," she said.

"I'm blushing, aren't I?" he asked, knowing the answer and smiling sheepishly.

"Uh huh," Molly said, grinning as she leaned over to give him a kiss. "And you are adorable as usual."

He sighed, but kissed her back, looking pleased. "Perhaps we could study this evening, once I am finished with this." Karal squeezed her hand. "Or we could watch another movie?"

"Okay!" Molly said with a smile. "If you're sure you have time. And we can do whatever you want."

He was torn, because he should study. "What if we have something to eat while we study, and then we could watch a movie afterwards?" Not that he was hungry, but he knew he should have something more than an apple.

"That sounds perfect," Molly said.

"I'm glad," he replied. "May I leave the choice of food to you?"

Molly nodded. "I'll figure out something," she said.

"Thank you." He leaned closer and kissed her cheek.

Molly turned to give him a hug. "I'll let you get back to work now," she said.
