Fifth Floor Common Room, Saturday Afternoon

It had been an interesting day, so far. Kabuto and Ino had ~~handwavily~~ explored the dorms a little bit before finally coming back to the common room on their own floor. A break was in order before they went off anywhere else, however.

Kabuto sat down on the couch, patting the spot beside him. "Let's take a little break, Ino. We can explore outside a little later. Sound good?"

She settled down next to him, "Sounds good to me." Ino looked around the room, "How many people do you think live here?"

"Seems like a lot," Kabuto replied, sliding an arm around her ~~ridiculously skinny~~ waist. "I wonder how many of them we know?"

Ino rested her head on his chest, "And how many of them we've forgotten? I wonder if it's happened to everyone here?"

"I'm not sure. If this is a school like it seems, wouldn't that be a little...well, detrimental?" Kabuto had been trying to figure out what was going for a while now, but he just couldn't come up with anything plausible.

Ino had been more occupied with the fact that she had a hot boyfriend. She frowned now though, "Maybe there was an accident or something and we lost our memories as a result?"

If that was the case though, it didn't explain why they weren't in the hospital.

"Maybe. That doesn't make much sense, though. I don't feel hurt or anything. Maybe it's some sort of...I don't know, something in the air?" That worried him a little. Could there be some kind of chemical or something in the air that would make them forget everything all over again?

"I don't feel hurt either." Ino snuggled closer to Kabuto, looking worriedly at him, "Should we be wearing masks or something then to filter it out? Would that even help in this case?"

"It's probably nothing," Kabuto tried to assure Ino, hugging her. "I think I'm a science major or something, so don't listen to my random babbling."

"Bet you're good at it. And I'll try not to worry about it." Ino mused, having no inclination to pull away from Kabuto, "Wonder what I study?" Nothing so far had rung any bells.

"My first thought is fashion," Kabuto admitted. "But you're probably one of those girls who looks like a fashion model but is actually a lawyer or something." He grinned, tickling her side. "Super-smart."

She giggled, and attempted to squirm away from him, "Stop that!" Ino scolded, still laughing, as she grabbed for his hands, "I'd make a kick-ass lawyer."

"You would," Kabuto agreed. "All dressed up in a suit and heels and shouting 'Objection!' at people. You'd be great."

"And I'd look great. Don't forget that." Ino added impishly.

Then she tickled him because it wouldn't be fair otherwise.

"H-Hey!" Kabuto laughed, squirming. "Yes, you'd look fantastic! I give, I give!"

"And don't forget it!" Ino declared, kissing his cheek. "Want to watch TV? We won't be able to remember anything, so even if it's only reruns..."

"Sounds like a good plan," Kabuto grinned, picking up the remote and turning on the television. Ever the polite one, he handed the remote to Ino.

Ino was happy to take it. She flipped through channels for a few moments before settling on something called Single Female Lawyer and grinned, "What do you think? Appropriate?"

Kabuto saw the title and laughed, kissing her cheek. "Extremely." He settled back against the cushions, reflecting that even if he didn't have any memories to compare it to, this was nice.

"I'm not single though." Ino said looking up at him, while keeping half her attention on the screen, "And you'd better not be planning to dump me."

"I'm not," Kabuto promised, reaching up to gently tweak her nose. "You might dump me in order to further your career without distractions, though. Not that I want you to, but there's always that chance."

"I don't want to dump you and I wouldn't do it for that!" Ino protested, capturing one of his hands, "And even if I did, we don't have to worry about it for a good while considering I'm still in school!"

"I know." Kabuto smiled, kissing her gently. "I'm just saying it could happen. Not that it's going to."

"Pessimist." Ino informed him with a smile tugging at her lips, "How do I know you won't get caught up in a crazy science experiment and leave me bereft and lonely?"

"Because I'm a good guy? At least, I think I am?" Kabuto scratched the back of his neck. "I wouldn't just run off like that. It's not all about work."

"I think you're a good guy too." Ino said, her tone of voice making it clear that her judgement was absolutely not to be questioned. Then she grinned, "That's why you're mine and not someone else's."

Then she poked his stomach. Because she could.

The poke earned her a rather undignified squeak from Kabuto. "H-Hey! Poking is off-limits!" He was laughing, though.

"Oh, is it now?" Ino asked with a mischievious glint in her eyes, "I didn't get the notice."

Poke. Poke.

Kabuto squirmed, trying to get away from the poking. "Stop!" He laughed, grabbing Ino's hand to stop her and unknowingly sending a spark of chakra through the touch.

The moment he touched her hand Ino yelped and tried to pull away. "That hurt's!" She eyed his hands nervously, "What did you just do?!"

Kabuto let go instantly, startled. "Huh? I didn't do anything!" He looked at his hands, then at Ino. "Did I hurt you? I'm sorry, Ino." He looked really unhappy and worried.

"It was almost like a shock or something." Ino shook her hand out, "But deeper than that, if that makes any sense."

She didn't think it did.

"I...I don't know. I didn't do it on purpose." Kabuto went to hug Ino in apology, but stopped himself and looked down at his hands again. "Maybe that's why there were gloves on my desk?"

Ino hugged him anyway, being careful to avoid his hands. "Maybe." She wrinkled her nose, "But you've touched me with your hands bare more than once without that happening."

"You're right. It doesn't make any sense." Kabuto leaned down and kissed her. "I'll try not to do it again. Whatever it was I did."

"Just don't do it to me." Ino elaborated, smiling at him, "But we should probably try and figure out what the trigger was. Just in case."

"Probably the situation...I wanted you to quit tickling me." Kabuto frowned, thinking. "So that probably did something."

"Maybe it's tied to your emotions?" Ino traced her fingers over his hands carefully, "Guess I should listen to you then, the first time you ask me to stop."

"It must be," Kabuto agreed. "I'll try to be more careful. I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you, Ino." He brushed her cheek lightly.

She closed her eyes and smiled at the touch, "I know you didn't." Ino assured him, "It's not like you at all."

Kabuto smiled, nodding. His stomach chose that moment to complain - loudly. Looking sheepish, the silver-haired boy grinned. "I guess I'm hungry. Do you want to go get something to eat?"

"I could do with a bite." Ino admitted, "Let's go and see what this place has to offer."
