Picnic Tables Outisde the Dorms, Tuesday Afternoon

Andrew decided to take advantage of the gorgeous day by moving his studies outside. He settled in at one of the picnic tables and surrounded himself with a hodgepodge of books on prophecy, wilderness survival, the Tocharian language, and methods of demon containment.

He also had a big bag of cheesy poofs and was happily munching, taking care to wipe his fingers off on his jeans before flipping a page.

Cheesy Poofs!!!

The monkey dashed in and attempted to steal the bag.

Andrew squealed when realized a monkey was attempting to take away his snack food. He wasn't about to give up his cheesy poofs without a fight, though.

Holding on tight to the bag, he attempted to chastise the animal. "Bad monkey! These are not your cheesy poofs! Go back from whence you came!"

Sadly this was one of the smaller monkeys in the pack. And at the slightest sign of resistance, he gave up and sat down on the ground, his little monkey shoulders drooping sadly.

"Oh, you poor little monkey," Andrew said with a frown. "Here." He tossed a few cheesy poofs in its direction.

Excitedly the monkey chattered at Andrew as he scooped up the cheesy poofs and ate them.

Andrew smiled at the monkey. "Where did you come from little fella?" he asked. It was too cute to be a demon monkey, so he was pretty sure he was in no way responsible for it being here. He tossed it a few more cheesy poofs.

More orange puffy goodness! Happily, but completely unintelligibly, the monkey told Andrew all about his jungle and the magical game that brought him here.

"Hmmm, you don't say," Andrew commented, nodding as the monkey made its monkey noises. "Yep. I still don't speak animal. I am, however, learning Tocharain. Do you speak Tocharain?"

If Tocharain sounded like a bunch of hoots and screeches? The monkey did. Warily the little guy edged closer to Andrew.

Andrew held out a cheesy poof in his hand to see if the monkey would take it.

He took the cheesy poof and stared up at Andrew with big, sad eyes.

"Are you lost?" Andrew asked, trying to figure out why the little monkey looked like it did. He reached out to try and pet the animal.

The monkey was used to being picked on by the bigger monkeys in his troop. Being petted was nice. It reminded him of his mom when he was little.

He tried to leap into Andrew's arms.

Andrew cringed as the monkey jumped at him, but he quickly realized its intentions did not involve biting and scratching, so he wrapped an arm around it to give it a comforting hug.

Snuggles were always nice. The monkey cuddled close. One hand pointed towards the cheesy poofs.

Andrew took out a few more cheesy poofs with his free hand and held them up for the monkey. "Now I've got some studying to do, little monkey guy. You're more than welcome to stay here though. It's a family value sized bag, so there is more than enough, okay?"

He took a few more cheezy poofs then sadly let go. He could hear the troop calling for him in the distance.

"Are you leaving me little monkey guy?" Andrew asked, a little saddened by the sudden lack of snuggling.

The monkey nodded sadly.

Andrew held out one last handful of cheesy poofs. "For you journeys," he said with a slight smile.

He grabbed the cheesy poofs, gave a little wave, and then scampered on his way.
