Look, everybody needed some form of cake on their birthday even if they had to make it themselves. Which is why Meg was in the kitchen making her favorite type of cupcakes; chocolate with peanut butter icing. And since you couldn't just make one cupcake (unless you had an Easy Bake Oven) she was making a ton for those who wandered in the common room.

"Yes, it was, I know that. Tell me Meg, what would you do if you were in my situation right now? Hypothetically speaking of course because I'm sure you would never make the super huge mistake I made."

"You're right, I would never make the mistake you made." she said. "I can't even hypothetically think about that. It's a fricking commandment."

Okay, so Dick and Annette weren't married so it probably wasn't technically breaking a commandment but Meg ignored that.

"I've been trying to break up with him, Meg! It's not working!" Annette lost a little of her self-control. She'd had it with everyone saying crap to her. She'd rather just be done with the whole thing.

Meg's mouth dropped open. "You need to get away from me you selfish little..."

No, Meg was not going to say bitch even though she wanted to.

"I can't believe he actually wants to stay with you and you're so damn willing to dump him." she said. Yes, she was having flashbacks of Duncan here.

"What? I don't want to dump him! That's not what I meant, geeze! I just want him happy and not hurt by what I did. Everyone is so quick to remind me I can only imagine how he feels and what he might have to put up with. I don't want him hurt."

"Trust me, I know Dick. He'll dump you when he wants to." she said. The guy had no feelings for anyone but himself. Meg was fine with that, at least he didn't try to put up some good guy front like Duncan. "Seems to me you're eager to dump him so you can go off with that A.J. guy or whatever."

"Dick is not so shallow," Annette said softly, her tone slightly unsure because Meg would know Dick much better than she. "I don't want to go off with anyone. A.J. is a friend of whom I haven't seen for sometime. If Dick were to dump me, Meg, I'm going home. I wouldn't stay here."

Meg would make a comment about Annette leaving but she had done the same thing in Neptune.

"That's good to know." she said. "Cause if you hurt him again, I'll have to punch you."

It was nice having fighting skills. She'd have to thank Cassandra again.

"If you're such good friends with Dick, Meg, then how come you don't talk to him about how he feels instead of just treating me like crap?"

"You're the one who came to me." Meg pointed out. And she didn't talk to Dick about his feelings because...he's Dick.

"Right. What was I thinking?" she chuckled humorlessly. "Imagine me trying or wanting to be nice."

"Not everyone is going to like you. Get over it." Meg said. And Annette sooooooo started this whole thing.

That hurt, it really did. Annette looked down and turned to leave. "I hope you have a Happy Birthday, Meg."

So much for wanting to enjoy her evening.
