Look, everybody needed some form of cake on their birthday even if they had to make it themselves. Which is why Meg was in the kitchen making her favorite type of cupcakes; chocolate with peanut butter icing. And since you couldn't just make one cupcake (unless you had an Easy Bake Oven) she was making a ton for those who wandered in the common room.

"Yep. Self-owned business, set my own hours, make my own way on my own pay. Get to travel, too. See the States. You got a job lined up? Settle down, get married, have some kids?"

"What? Me? Oh, no, I mean, I've got a boyfriend but no, no marriage -- I mean no talk of marriage or kids or... nope, just college for me."

"College for what?" Jack's thinking 'finishing school' or something, maybe something nerdy like secretary school. She seems the corporate type. Office work? Business?

Annette pursed her lips. "I'm not sure yet. Maybe law school."

"Law school?" Didn't he just see that one show the other night? Single Female Lawyer?

"Mmmhmm, maybe go abroad. Just not sure though, I guess I better get to thinking about it. What grade are you in Jack?"

"I'm a sophomore," he said. "You're a senior? That's cool. Hvae you been here long?"
