Look, everybody needed some form of cake on their birthday even if they had to make it themselves. Which is why Meg was in the kitchen making her favorite type of cupcakes; chocolate with peanut butter icing. And since you couldn't just make one cupcake (unless you had an Easy Bake Oven) she was making a ton for those who wandered in the common room.

"I think we were both stressed out," Lee said. "Sorry about that. I don't think he meant anything more than just our anger at Kerrigan."

"I just figured he didn't like girls, but it was no problem. How long were you up there for?" she asked; anything more than an hour and Annette probably would have died. Or close to it. Something at least.

"Most of the day," Lee answered. "Not fun. And I don't know if he likes girls or not. Ed's dramatic sometimes."

"Oh man, that must have..." Oh no bathroom privileges or anything. "Omigod, Lee, you've so got to get her back. What she did was just not right."

"Well, there's a thing with that too," Lee said slowly. "We did get her back...in a way."

Annette tilted her head. "You did?"

"We told the Dean of Students," Lee said.

"Well, that's good." she said thoughtfully, looking up at him. "Isn't it?"

"Yeah, I guess," Lee said, shrugging. "I kind of wonder what she'll do to us for telling though."

"You would think after the Dean's been informed that Professor Kerrigan wouldn't try to do anything. She'll probably be under some sort of supervision I would think. Are you worried, Lee?"

"Teacher's insane," Lee told her. "A little worried, yeah. She reminds me of my dad."

Okay. Insane was never good. "That doesn't sound good, Lee. Your dad is not...right?" Annette's dad was pretty crazy too but she wasn't going to mention that because his crazy was just like wacky crazy or something.

"No, my dad's just military," he said like that explained it all.

"Strict?" That's the first word that came to mind.

"Yep," Lee said and nodded. "As strict as they come."

"My dad is strict too," she said but she knew it wasn't the same kind. "Why were you sent to Fandom?"

"Not sure actually," Lee said. "I was going into military school when I got transferred."

"Just like that?" That seemed odd. "I would think a military father would want a military son."

He shrugged. "Well, I'm still a military son. I'm just not at military school."

"Oh." Annette was nosey sometimes. "Did you get in trouble? Cause I kind of sort of got in trouble when I was sent here. I try hard not to think about that time because it was just not good, seriously."
