It was Wednesday. It was around seven o'clock. Guess what Chad was doing. Go on. Guess.

And his girl was kicking butt so far. It called for popcorn to go along with the victory. He almost hated his growing addiction to this show, but...come on. Models.

Ino was in a pretty good mood when she wandered down two floors and into the common room after having spent awhile watching movies upstairs. She smiled at Chad and wandered over, "What's on down here?"

Chad lifted his chin in greeting. "Hey, Ino. It's America's Next Top Model. Wanna come watch?" He offered out the bowl of popcorn toward her, as if to entice her to staying with the salty snack goodness if the models weren't enough of a draw.

"Ooooh, this is what Deadpool-san wanted me to watch then?" Ino asked sitting down on the floor nearby and nabbing a few pieces of popcorn. Then she laughed, "Somehow I've spent most of the day watching things on TV - Jeff and Andrew had movies going on upstairs."

"I don't actually watch a lotta TV," Chad admitted with a shrug, "but I like this. It's good research."

"I don't usually watch so much, but I was bored and thinking about a few things was only making me cranky and Jeff was there and it's hard to be cranky around him and - " Ino shook her head, "Sorry. Rambling. Why is it good research?"

"You should go shopping with Jeff," Chad suggested with a nod. "That's always fun, but his girlfriend doesn't like it when we go anymore. An' it's good research because I'm gonna be a model." There was another nod.

"A model? Really?" Ino turned to get a better look at him, her eyes appraising, "And why doesn't his girlfriend like it when you go with Jeff?"

Chad? Might have posed just a wee tiny bit when he noticed Ino giving him the usual appraising look he got when he mentioned that. "She doesn't like our mutual style, but, I mean, I've studied some fashion, and she might kind of right."

Ino noticed the posing and couldn't help but grin a little. And hey, it was cute and Chad was certainly easy on the eyes. "You look the part," Ino admitted with an sly grin, "can you act it though?"

"If you look it well enough," Chad pointed out, "you don't need to act it. Take my girl there, for example," he said, nodding toward the tall brunette totally blowing her photoshoot out of the water with her sheer awesomeness. "One of the other girls commented that she's her biggest competition because she doesn't even have to try. She's just got it down so naturally. That's how I wanna be. An' male models got it even easier, really..."

Ino watched the show for a few minutes - she wasn't getting distracted, really! - and nodded, "She does make it look really easy. Wow. Do they have a guy version of this?" She asked, "'cause then you could try that."

"They don't." If one looked really close, they might even see a pout on Chad's face. "They should; I would do it. But they got this one, where they try to find the smartest model, and that one's got guys. And Ben Stein."

Ino totally missed the pout, she was watching the models, "That's the one I thought was this one, right? 'Cause I didn't know who Ben Stein was and you told me."

Chad tried to think back; it required jumpstarting his memory, which was always a lengthy process. "Oh, yeahhhhhh, you were there when I was watching that one. Cool. With the crazy Russian."

Ino wasn't quite sure who the crazy Russian had been, but he seemed to remember so that was good. "So you're going to finish school and then..." she frowned, "How do you become a model?"

"Well..." Chad's head tilted. "You have to get a profile, an' then go on Go Sees, like they do in the show, and if they like you, they hire you, like any other job, I guess...."

Ino shrugged and offered a smile. "I've never thought about that, actually. Back home Hokage-sama assigns missions and my team goes out and does whatever we're ordered to."

"I got, uh...a couple good back up plans, too. 'Specially since you can't really model forever, y'know?"

"Yeah, modelling really depends on age - way more than almost everything else. What else do you want to do?"

"Well....there's always the rock star thing," Chad shrugged. "Used to play for a band. And, uh, then there's um...the, uh..." There was a cough as Chad attempted to distort the next part: "concubinething."

Ino blinked. And stared. She was almost certain that she'd heard that last bit wrong. "Concubine thing?"

"Uhhh." That would be Chad, head ducked, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah. Concubine thing. My, uhhh...it's a long story?"

Ino was still staring. "I'm here all evening if you don't mind telling." Because, yeah. Concubine?

"Well...." Chad didn't think he was going to get out of this one. Models on television or not. "See, I, uh, have this boyfriend....Teddy. Have you met Teddy?"

"Last week!" Ino paused. "I think! But yeah, I have. He's your boyfriend?" She wasn't going to let him get out of it. It sounded like a good story.

"Mmhm," Chad nodded. "Been together almost a year. An', well, see...he's actually an alien, but not, like, a regular alien. He's actually an alien emperor..."

"... he's an alien?" Ino was staring again, "He didn't mention that." She shook her head, Fandom was weird. No wondered he'd asked if she'd heard anything about aliens... "Okay! So he's, like, really important then."

Chad nodded. She was following the story very well, which was unfortunate, because that meant Chad had to keep going. "Right. So, as an important man, he has to do, like, important...court stuff...and stuff, when he's older, and, like, so, the alien society, or whatever probably won't look too well on their emperor bein' with jus' a regular human like me, so..."

Ino frowned. "And you're like, okay, with being the um... 'other' man?"

Chad shrugged. "Never really thought of it that way. I mean, anything else Ted got involved in would probably be all for show..."

"That's not really fair to anyone in this situation!" Ino said, looking perturbed, "And what about kids?"

"...Anyone ever tell you about the kid's weekend here?"

"Um..." she thought about it, "No?"

"There was this...weekend," Chad explained, "where everyone's potential kids shows up. Teddy had two of 'em. One was with me, Orden; we're still not sure how that worked out. The other, Yukio, was with this girl, Setsuna, and that's even more confusing, but it seemed to be an okay situation for both of 'em. They both got to be princes, they had a good home, parents who...well,Ted and me loved 'em, I don't think Setsuna was too fond of 'em, and they were both really happy and everything, although they seemed like it, so I think it all mostly works out..."

"That's good." Ino nodded, a bit boggled by the idea of a bunch of potential kids running around for the weekend, "'Cause you're nice and we're sorta siblings because of Jeff and yeah." Which settled it as far as Ino was concerned.

"We're more than just sorta siblings, Ino," Chad said; he took his extensive fake family tree very seriously, after all.

Ino blushed. And looked down. "Okay." She just wasn't used to this sort of thing.
