2nd Floor Common Room - Sunday Night

Meg had actually been handwavily productive today and spent a couple hours in the gym. So she decided to reward herself by making popcorn and settling down to watch Ratman Restarts on TV.

She opened up a bag of M&M's and mixed it in with her popcorn (best way to eat popcorn, after all) before concentrating on the hotness that was Christian Bale.

[Oh so open]

Because TV was kind of boring tonight, Jim decided to head to the common room. "Hey. What're we watching?"

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Popcorn and M&M's? What made you put them together?" Jim asked. "Also, yes, I do." Jim reached into the bowl and grabbed out a small handful.

Jim tried the combination and nodded. "Time efficient and delicious. Good call. I approve."

The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn, quote Adah in her head, with one such acorn in her good hand, there protected from being lost in the recesses of pens and notebooks and collections of poetry tucked away into her bad. She'd had good morning of nothing, and afternoon in the library, and then the evening handwavily outside, enjoying the autumn weather she didn't even realize she'd missed. And now she had an acorn for a pet vole skeleton, but her good mood had her limp diverting slightly, in a rare socialable desire that only good moods could bring, to poke her head into the common room as she passed to see what might be going on within. Perhaps something interesting, perhaps not. Most likely not, since the television was on, but there were no animals eating other animals.

What? She liked those wildlife shows. Reminded her of Kilanga.

[identity profile] ecirpnellehada.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Acorn tucked stuck in her fingers, Adah lifted a hand to wave back. She then leaned against the doorway, resting a bit before continuing, whichever way she should decide to go, and gave a questioning look toward the film that was playing on the television. She had to admit that it caught her attention more than just slightly, even if it did look like some of it might be a bit too quickly moving for her brain to keep up with.

[identity profile] ecirpnellehada.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
With a greater tilt of her head and an added quirk of her eyebrow, Adah smirked a bit thinking that she didn't believe she'd ever see him start, much less restart. She slid a little bit more into the room, keeping close to the wall as though for support, inching a bit closer to the couch, but not quite yet. She looked at the screen a bit more, blinking away some of the jolting action, and then light shook her head, glancing toward Meg to see if she felt the need for any further exposition.

"Hi," Jim said. "I don't think I've met you yet. I'm Jim."

[identity profile] ecirpnellehada.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
Well, this hadn't happened in a while. Adah blinked a little at the boy introducing himself, her expression twisting slightly as she tried to think of a good solution. Jim seemed to have caught her at a moment where she didn't just feel the urge to completely ignore him or force awkwardness upon him for simply being friendly and personal, but...she looked down forlornly at the acorn in her hand. Couldn't write with an acorn in her hand, but, then again, she could also slip it into her coat pocket. She seemed to consider the conundrum a little longer, as if inspiration might come from the slight sheen of the seed's hard shell.

Finally, she decided that maybe an attempt at awkwardness that might also be mistaken as an attempt at friendliness should win, lifted her head (a little too sharply, making her neck complain but she blinked it away), and gave Jim a bright smile, followed by a nod of acknowledgment. That was it, and then she looked back down at the acorn.

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Jim returned the smile, which was quickly replaced with a strange look as followed her gaze to the acorn. "Ah. Trying to bribe the squirrels," he said in a mock serious tone. "They're suckers for bribes. Give them food and they'll keep quiet."

[identity profile] ecirpnellehada.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Without lifting her head, Adah looked back toward Jim through her hair with her smile faded to a smirk and her expression questioning that serious tone. She ran a finger over the small curve of the acorn before turning it over, and then tucking it into her coat pocket. She then shifted, moving her back over from her hip to start digging through it for a small, easily manageable notebook. She set it on the arm of the couch, leaning awkwardly toward it so that she'd have something solid to write against, since she certainly couldn't depend on her limp right hand to do it. Finally, after she'd written something, she offered it to Jim.

"Not for squirrels; if they're any sort of intelligent squirrels they would have already horded plenty for themselves by now. No, this acorn is not for the selfish squirrel but instead, the dead vole skeleton in a shoebox under my bed, for he cannot hunt for himself, although I do question my reasoning to think he would need to hunt at all, what with being dead."

Yup. That should do it. And, if not, well, then, color her impressed.

Irulan entered the common room and was immediately glad she did. She'd just entered when the man on the screen was shirtless and doing some form of exercise. "Who is that?"

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
"That's Ratman. Or at least it will be in about a half hour or so," Jim said.

[identity profile] irulan-atreides.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Rat who?" Irulan asked, incredulous, because no matter how much she squinted no way did the man resemble a rat.

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Ratman. Defender of the innocent, fighter of crime, slightly creepy hero guy," Jim explained. "He dresses like a rat."

[identity profile] irulan-atreides.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Irulan stared at Jim then at the Hot Guy on screen. "Why?" She gestured, "He's already..." she made a gesture to indicate his general hotness. "He doesn't need to dress as a rat!"

"Christian Bale," Irulan noted with a sigh, "I think I like him already."

"But he dresses like a rat!" She exclaimed, concerned.
