The Gym: Monday Afternoon

It isn't that Mel isn't in a "mood" after what happened yesterday it's just that she felt that beating the crap out of the body bag in the gym would make her feel better.

Okay... she is in a mood. And the beating of the body bag? Totally not helping.

That wasn't stopping her from continuing to beat the crap out of it.

Deciding that she needed some exercise, River wandered down to the gym in the afternoon. She raised an eyebrow at Mel and watched her assault on the body bag, while slipping down on to the floor for stretching.

"There is a limit to how many punches even a punchbag can take," River said, leaning forward over her legs. "Have yet to find it myself."

"Thank you," River replied, stretching her right side. "I would appreciate it. Although sparring is more enjoyable."

River looked up, then nodded. "If you ever need assistance, just ask." Not that Mel wasn't able to handle things herself, but sometimes help was preferable.

"Going to classes, longing for dancing, flying my spaceship, consuming too much apple cake." River stretched to the right. "And a surprising amount of sparring."

"No one in particular. Practised knife fighting with Irulan, sparred with Cassandra who speaks words with each punch and kick, beat up Lee. Sparred with Kerrigan too." That last one she had lost.

River hadn't considered it in that light. "Am working under the hypothesis that fighting under regulated conditions will leave me less likely to..." She shook her head and didn't finish the sentence.

That was one way of putting it. She nodded. "Has happened before." She stretched forwards over her legs again.

"Never noticed a connection, for or against," River replied, one corner of her mouth turning upwards. "The tentacled monster gets most of the ice cream though."

"Yes. Berthold." She sat up again. "Although he shouldn't eat too much ice cream."

"That's the assumption," she said. "The result is him eating our clothes."

"Here when we moved in." It felt like the truth, anyway. She looked up at Mel with a grin. "He's a sweet monster."

[Bedtime for me, woe!]

Sokka wandered into the gym carrying some rather tiny-looking dumbbells, and blinked at Mel. "Yeeeeeah... I think it's dead now."

"You gotta salt and burn them," Sokka replied, knowingly.

Sokka shrugged. "You'd need to take that up with Professor Winchester."
