She dashed like a mad fiend to the gym to begin setting up, just barely in time to get things started.

She wasn't late, honest! Much!

Claire started out with a few backflips across the mats.

No bombs on school property! Aly wouldn't break the rules ever.

She just looks very innocent.

Rikku bounced up to Aly, a little more hesitant than her usual. "Hey, uh. Can I ... talk to you?"

"Sure," Aly said, glancing at Rikku curiously. "Everything okay?"

"Oh! Yeah, uh, just ... you know. Kind of ... wondering about something and ... but it's none of my business, so I'm not sure I should ask, kinda thing?" She fidgeted a little. "Do you ... have a minute or should I not be nosy and all that?"

Aly grinned. "Have we met? I'm always in favour of being nosy. If it's something I can't answer, I'm more than happy to point you in the right direction or just tell you so."

"Oh, okay. Yeah." She nodded. "I just ... it's probably something personal so I don't want to ... it's ... wait, hang on a sec."

She fished a tiny bottle of rum out of her pouch - what? She kept a few in there for just this sort of occasion - and tossed it to the nearest squirrel.

"It's about ... Sunday. With brunch and ..." She bit her lip. "And Deadpool?"

She tilted her head, trying to think what exactly Rikku was referring to until.. oh. "You haven't seen him not in his costume before?"

Rikku flushed. "I did once. A couple months ago. He was at the bar and he looked ... different. Than now, I mean." She bit her lip again before blurting out, "Is he okay?"

Mmph. Aly still wasn't entirely pleased with Cable for that blow to Wade.

"He's okay," she said quietly. "It's how he normally is. A few months ago - that was an aberration."

"Oh." Rikku nodded. "That ... that makes sense. He kinda seemed ... different, when he was like that. Maybe just really happy about it."

Which suddenly struck her as a heartbreaking thought.

"He ... he never takes it off, usually, I mean, I've been his minion almost since I got here, and that was kinda the first time ... I didn't want to ask, 'cause ..."

Aly nodded. "It's not something he likes to talk about usually." She glanced back at Rikku. "He's usually pretty careful to keep his mask on around people. Means he trusts you a lot, letting you see him without it."

"He, uh." She cleared her throat. "I didn't know if he realized it, even, so I ... I mean, I didn't notice, at first, I was kinda ... puking. And then I thought maybe he forgot so I didn't want to say anything. Then I thought, okay, what if that, like, just happened and I blew it off? But it kinda seemed like ..."

Like it kind of explained a lot, in some strange way.

"Does it ... h-hurt? I mean, is he ..." She waved vaguely. "Sick?"

"He's okay," Aly repeated because they were getting into Wade's secrets being his own. "It's part of who he is now." And wasn't that both incredibly sad and what Cable had meant when she'd asked about it.

"Okay. That's good. I mean, that he's okay, not the ... you know." Rikku nodded. "Then I'm ... kinda touched that he ... didn't. Wear it, I mean. He's totally the best mentor ever, you know. Not 'cause of the ice cream pony and the gun, because he's ... you know."

Wow, did Rikku suck at talking about things.

Aly grinned. "Yeah. I know exactly what you mean. He's the best friend ever too."

"I bet," Rikku said softly. "He's ... been awesome. I didn't mean to puke on his couch, but I'm ... almost glad I did, 'cause we talked and ... you know."

"Sounds even with the hangover, it wasn't a waste of a night," Aly said. She looked Rikku over. "You feeling better?"

"I think so," she said hesitantly. "I kinda ... I dunno. I don't feel any better. I get that it was stupid, but ... I didn't do that 'cause I thought it'd help. I just wanted to not think for a while."

Voyeurism, anybody?
