2nd floor common room, Tuesday after classes

Johnny was bored. Johnny overturned two empty trash cans and laid a piece of board across the top. Then, because yes, he was bored, he made a bunch of paper people, lining them up across the wooden plank. For their sake, he didn't try to name them.

Sitting on the couch, one by one he sent a fireball towards them, torching them, watching them lift in the air and burn until there was nothing left. Yes, he was playing with fire but he was very safe, really. Nothing was catching on fire except for his mini-paper people. How cool was that?

"Yes! Take that you with the cur--" No, he wasn't going to say it cause he didn't mean it. Seriously. He did not name his paper dolls, come on!

[common room is totally open.]

"So much aggression, tsk!" Turtle commented with a shake of her head as she drifted in to find herself a snack and, instead, finding little burning people and a chance to bug Johnny.

"For what?" Turtle asked wryly, climbing up on the counter because, she swore, everyone always put the good stuff on the top shelf she couldn't reach. "Did they give you a papercut?"

"Yes, Johnny," Turtle rolled her eyes. "That's exactly what I want to do. I woke up the morning and thought to myself, 'Hey. I want to break something.'"

Unfortunately, though, Turtle would not be collecting on those insurance premiums after all, as she found what she was looking for (the frosted strawberry Pop-Tarts, not the icky unfrosted ones), took the box out, and hopped down from the counter with a light 'oof.' Victory!

"He said," Turtle snorted, "as he burned poor, innocent paper people." She moved over to the toaster, pulling out a package to slide in when she stopped, head tilted, forehead wrinkling in thought.

And when she finally decided that, hey, it was worth a try and it wasn't like there weren't more Pop-Tarts, she turned around and asked, "So, how well can you control that stuff, anyway? Can you do, like, temperatures and stuff? Namely, torching something without entirely burning it?"

"I'll give you five bucks if you can toast my Pop-Tarts for me," Turtle said, unwrapping them and setting them on the counter. Was that a good spot for them? She wasn't sure, but she backed away and nodded at them. "No burning them, though. And five more bucks if you don't call me 'sweetheart' ever again."

The fact that Johnny'd concluded with four of Turtle's favorite words allowed her to forget the sugar toots. She beamed a little at the plate with satisfaction. "Ah," she proclaimed as she went to find a seat on a couch, "nothing like the exploitation of other people's abilities to your own means! Thanks, Johnny."

Turtle held up a finger while chewing her first bite enough to allow her to speak. "Nuh-uh," she argued lightly. "I offered you something, but you turned it down. We're even. I owe you nothing ,although I will allow you to go back on the five bucks if you still want that."

Isabel had gone for a run, gotten cleaned up, and now she was checking out common rooms, looking for people to bother.

"You're easily amused aren't you?"

"...Averagely," Turtle insisted loftily, "at best. Kiddie stuff or no, you did the deed with agreement to the terms, thus entitling you to absolutely nothing in the form of bartering. It's dead and done. And, besides, I don't know what you're getting at. The only thing I can think of is the radio thing, and I planned on stopping that, I just haven't had a chance because you weren't in any of my notes last night."

"It'll make shopping for Christmas easier," she told him. "Something simple, shiny and potentially flammable and I'm all done."

"There doesn't need to be a shaking of hands," Turtle replied with a sigh, shaking her head and nibbling away. "Besides, under that logic, because there was no official deal and I've already gotten what I want, there's nothing binding me to doing anything for you except your power of persuasion, which, no offense, but is just not going to cut it. However, if you make an offer, I might consider it out of my pure magnanimousness."

"Because I am happy," Isabel smiled. "I'm enjoying it. As for what to get me? I honestly? I don't know. I've got everything I need right now. Anything else is just extra."

"That wasn't at all what I was talking about," Turtle sighed. "I swear, it's more impossible to have a straight-laced conversation with you than it is with Jeff, and that's impressive..."
