Between the smell of food, the sound of party music, and the sight of a lot of bottles (some of them even non-alcoholic!), it was clear that the sixth floor was ready for a party. Far away from yurts, and more importantly, far away from people who might be interrupted by a bunch of food, music, and drinking!

Summer was half over, everyone. Come on up and celebrate.

[OOC: This is the party for Not-So-Final Destination. Please, feel free to throw in as many I Never prompts as you want so there's a good list to go off of for the next week.

All students are invited by way of the posting at the main campfire earlier this week!]

Johnny wasn't minding yurt life too much, but he did have to admit that he was kind of out of his groove. Between regular trips back to New York as an excuse for mun absence, ahem and just generally not being as social as usual, he felt like he needed to do something to get his groove back.

So he grabbed some marshmallows and a crude, quickly made sign. The marshmallows were for roasting (something he did in his hand but others might do on the campfire). The sign was for posting.

It read:
Summer is Half Over!
Let's Remember the First Half Fondly!
Saturday Night!
6th Floor Common Room Party!!

With that job done, Johnny got back to roasting the marshmallows in his hands. He was definitely a city kid, but fire codes generally frowned on doing stuff like this, so the outdoors had their delicious silver linings.

[OOC: Open, naturally. And let this serve as a reminder of the party this weekend ahead of Not-So-Final Destination!]

Look, don't ask where Johnny got a bunch of clubs and wraps or whatever. Just know that if you needed a light in the dark, dark fog, well, have a torch. Courtesy of the Human Torch.

After all, there wasn't much else he could do right now to help people out and flashlights existed, but at least this kept him busy.

... Especially when he started juggling his lit torches. FORTUNATELY, he got a text before he burned anything down. "Wait, what the hell?"

What Gwen was learning was that even if you went back on that "I'm better than my hormones" bit this week, it didn't matter if you thought you fixed everything, it came back. So when marched into the common room ready to be grouchy and hate everything some more... and she walked into a party.

There was food spread out, and music playing, and weirdly the furniture had been moved so that a clear circle could be formed around a bottle laying in the middle of the floor. That was sexily ominous.

[Welcome to Spin the Bottle! It's an open CR, so you can totally come to watch and not play, but if you're playing, here are the rules:
If you're playing, ping into the sign in with the number in which you got there. That'll be your number for matches, which will be listed in a separate thread. If you didn't sign up, you're still totally welcome to play, and anyone who pings in later than 18 will be matched with someone already in the pool, so they might get kissed more than once.
Now play ball! ...um not dirty.]

The power was still out, it was still cold, and there was something in the air. Johnny could do something about two of those things in the common room, adding a little more light and heat to the room by letting flame dance across his shoulders. Granted, being in public when he was feeling slightly hornier than usual was probably a bad idea.

But whatever, he could entertain himself without hooking up with anyone. Not like that. Don't be gross. He was making shadow puppets on the wall. Right now he was doing deformed rabbit. It was his favorite.

Johnny had been a little busy since eventually figuring out the wish thing yesterday. All of his clothes were fireproof now. He had a danger sense that would alert him if anyone within a quick flight was in danger and needed a superhero. He had a great cup of coffee this morning. And now...

"I wish there was a fully stocked party going on in this common room that could get as loud as we want without disturbing anyone outside of the room, with food, drinks, a live DJ, fancy lights, and... and... I think that's it!" Johnny waved his hand and, boom, party going on.

He took a look at the drink selection and sighed. "I wish we could have some alcohol in this party." Handwave. Nothing happened. "I wish for booze." Handwave nothing happened. "I wish for a nice hat?" Johnny waved his other hand. Nothing happened.

"My wishing broke," he sighed. "At least that coffee was really good."

After nearly five minutes of fiddling with the input settings on the remote control, Amy was willing to admit (to herself and only to herself) that maybe she didn't know how to change the channel on the TV. It was a frustrating realization to come to, since she generally considered herself a competent person, but there it was. The TV refused to budge from what Amy gathered was some kind of college sports network, and Amy was far too stubborn to get up and change it when there was a perfectly functional remote right there next to her. At least she assumed it was fully functional, because it had worked to turn the TV on. Maybe it was partially functional.

Anyway, Amy's plan was to keep watching this until she figured out how to change it. And in the meantime, she was learning a lot about basketball. It wasn't as boring as she would have expected.

...She wondered when the cheerleaders were going to perform.

After spending the afternoon cooking some eels - well, less "cooking" and more "exploding" since they had oxygen tanks - Johnny found that they were tapering off heading into the night.

So he set up a chair on the dorm roof, watching out for any eel stragglers. And when he saw one? "Pull!" Then a rush of flame, a small "BOOM," and some crispy eel hopefully not landing on someone.

Sometimes monster fighting was exciting. Other times it was just weird. This sunset was one of those latter times.

If you thought Sparkle was going to just let this weather pass him by today, you really had another thing coming. Glitter! There was glitter as far as the eye could see with drifts that came halfway to his knees around some of the corners on the grounds to the dorms. And Sparkle?

Well, Sparkle had an affinity for glitter, okay? He could do so much with this stuff. Stick it in more shower heads, throw it off the roof at people in water balloons, mail it to his enemies...

And that was why he had already stuffed his backpack full of the stuff, and had now started on filling a couple of pillowcases, besides. He was going to be twinkling for like a year, but like that was really anything new, and holy shit, the possibilities were endless, here.

Endless.

Johnny didn't see what the big deal was with today. Oooh, people told the truth. So what? He liked telling the truth! He did it all the time! He was awesome. Reed was a douche. Gwen was cool. Alana was hot. He didn't have many male friends because he never truly felt deep down that he really belonged after spending his entire youth out of place. He had no idea how to commit to anything but superheroing. This pizza was delicious and there was plenty for everyone. This Kate Hudson movie was wonderful, she was such a good actress.

Kate Hudson was where he drew the line. "I really want this channel to change so I can save face if anyone comes in. I DON'T KNOW WHY THE CHANNEL WON'T CHANGE! I'd totally bang Kate Hudson."

Okay, maybe THAT was how he could save face if anyone came in.

[OOC: Open, of course. But I'm driving home now so no responses for the next hour.]

It was time for a quiet night in for once, Johnny figured. He'd been out a lot recently, mostly not even doing fun things. Well, superheroing was fun, but not fun. You knew what he meant. He hadn't taken a night to just enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Speaking of simple, not only was The Buonarroti Cipher on TV, it also had commercials, which helped break up the stupidity. He was as excited as somebody could possibly be for catching a several year old so so movie based on a book he had no desire to read on basic cable.

So he plopped down on the couch, ordered some pizza, and got to enjoying Tom Hanks try to take any of this seriously.

Another night, another patrol for Spider-Woman. Sort of. Maybe it wasn't so much a patrol as watching from the rooftops in case of any trouble. So far it hadn't seemed like a real crime mecca or anything, but when she'd tried to get coffee this morning and had the barista burst into "Taylor the Latte Boy" she'd figured something was up with this place.

So here she was, perched on the ledge, and waiting for something to happen. Or someone to show up or whatever.

It was time to set up the table to sell Homecoming tickets again, and this year's theme was Glitter Punk. Alana still didn't know what it meant, exactly, but after looking up pictures online she'd decided to wear a Ramones t-shirt, black jeans and heavy boots to match the theme, with purple glitter sprayed through her hair that itched her scalp a bit but looked awesome.

She played Candy Crush on her phone in between ticket sales. Someday she'd beat the 100th level and move on, but today showed no signs of being that day.

Alana had ordered a pizza, and -- as seemed to be the law in Fandom -- the delivery person had brought five pizzas and a few bottles of soda to wash them down with.

Once she realized she wasn't going to have to pay for all five, she was completely down with this. Leaving the pizza out for anybody who wanted to share it, she chowed on a slice of the ham-and-pineapple as she watched a nature show marathon on the TV. She hadn't even known what a meerkat was an hour before, but she was becoming kind of an expert on the soap opera that was their sex lives.

So, everyone was back from Skyrim safe and sound, and no one (at least, no one Joker knew of) had come down with dysentery, or Legionnaire's, or botulism, or tetanus, or anything. Success!

Beyond that, however, there was something much, much more important to celebrate: Eleanor's birthday!

As soon as they got back to the dorms, Joker picked up the flyers he'd put together weeks ago and started posting them in the halls, and then he got started on decorating the common room. This party was going to be EPIC! Or... well, they'd just had a week that was epic, and it wasn't as fun as it ought to have been. So, this party was going to be AWESOME!

Eleanor had been wanting to watch good movies for a change, so he'd lined up some of the best for the evening's entertainment. Snacks, pizza, cake, and ice cream rounded out the party's backbone, and all that was missing was the people.

Oh, and of course, because of the day's special surprise, Joker had scribbled "BYOB (Bring Your Own Baggage)" on the bottom of every flyer before he posted them.

(open post is open!)

As it turned out, Johnny did, in fact, know how to throw a party for someone 1) on his own and 2) without just stealing rum from squirrels and claiming that made it a party (what the hell, amnesiac him?).

There was food, there was space for presents, there were non-alcoholic drinks, there was music, and there was no porn in the DVD player, he checked because he did not want any surprises.

With all that set up, the quick sign he put up explained it all: "HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARA." Whether he didn't know or didn't care that he neglected where a comma should be was up for debate.

Yesterday's class had gotten pretty ridiculous, and because Gwen was a totally rational person who felt like she should have been granted sainthood somewhere around hour five of the discussion, today there was gonna be a party.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen! There'd been hastily-photocopied flyers put up around the dorms this morning to advertise (and warn anyone who didn't want to stumble into it). Gwen had taken advantage of the pizza place's weird fixation on giving extra food and so there was plenty in the kitchen, there were (non-alcoholic) drinks and popcorn, and there was nothing but moddable dirty movies on the TV. There was plenty of room, come and stay as long as you want!

That's what she said.

(But don't actually do that, ew.)

[Open, and this is me trying to keep your flists clean at work! Can't guarantee the comments will be worksafe, though. You can miss the flyers if you'd like to innocently stumble in anyway, and also feel free to bring your own movies.]

Johnny had an emotional but overall good weekend. But after doing radio this morning, it was clear that Parents Weekend wasn't as pleasant for everyone.

And so, as promised, Johnny bought some cupcakes and brought them to the first floor lobby. They were available to anyone who wanted or needed them, provided they would accept a hug from Johnny. And no, that wasn't a thing for the girls. Guys were getting a bro hug too. This was a platonic hug of support.

And if you needed, he was willing to give a pep talk, too. Girls had told him that he was great at saying the right thing to make them feel good about themselves. Why not apply that to people in actual need of cheering up?

Fandom needed it's favorite flaming superhero to do something a little different today and he was completely willing to do that. That's what being a superhero was, ven if he wasn't on fire.

There were two reasons for the party being organized in the second floor common room tonight. The official one was that Sparkle and Alana were both campaigning for seats on the Student Council and needed to get their names out there.

The less official one was that Minako's fifth floor party the week before had been amazing, and the hosts wanted to prove other floors could host something just about as awesome.

Other than the VOTE FOR ALANA and VOTE FOR SPARKLE posters taped to the walls, the set-up was standard for a dorm party. They'd filled a table with pizza and snacks (including, at Sparkle's insistence, homemade sparkler-topped cupcakes), and Alana had set up her tablet to play a mix of trancey pop music. The electronica battled for ear space with an intentionally campy sci-fi movie playing on the TV.

Everyone in the student body had gotten an emailed invitation, so now it was just a matter of seeing who would show up.
[identity profile] beautifulsenshi.livejournal.com
Having a single now was nice, since it meant Minako didn't have to try being tidy around another person, but it got really lonely really fast.

Hence the fact she'd taken over the common room, making a HUGE bowl of punch and setting out chips, boxes of pop, and (store-bought) cookies before digging around in the closet to find the mats to hook up DDR on the meta for XBox.

"Sweet!" she cheered, as she held up the guitar for a different game. "You can be later. Gotta warm up before rocking out!"

Working under the specious logic that if he couldn't remember anything before yesterday that anything dumb he did today might be forgotten soon anyway, Jonathan - no, JOHN Storm set up some chips, a few bottles of pirate rum, and a sign just outside the common room announcing the Let's Make Some Mistakes We Won't Remember Party.

He had to get creative with some of the entertainment, but John was pretty sure this whole thing would work out regardless.

It's not like Johnny had classes today anyway, but he was still taking advantage of Labor Day by watching an action movie marathon. He turned it on halfway through The Game is Over, and now he was deep into The Game Is Over 2. Up next, Action Doctor.

Johnny had never heard of any of these movies, but they seemed wonderful and dumb and the lead actor seemed weirdly familiar for some reason.

Whatever, he had action. He had a day off. He had a couch. He had a bowl full of unpopped popcorn. And he had a hand above the bowl, heating the air around the kernels until they popped. He was trying something new with his powers. Sue would be so proud in a super disappointed way.

Mara had been here a week now, and so after finding a quiet place to give the Emperor her report on the first days, she made her way down to the gym to get in a workout.

Even with classes on spycraft (well, sort of...) and getting shot at, she still wasn't going to practice hand-to-hand combat exercises or sharpshooting techniques where any student could find her.

Thus the music and the barre and going through warm-ups for dancing: the first cover she'd even been given. Her muscles relaxed as she moved through familiar exercises. "First position, second position--"

Gwen figured that as a treat for surviving most of her first week here (literally and figuratively), she'd just use a little bit of the spending money she'd been given before coming here to order a pizza, because she didn't feel like trying to cook.

When the delivery guy showed up with several she'd figured they were for deliveries elsewhere, but then there was a conversation including sentences such as "I only ordered one. One small," and "I'm not paying for all these," and "How do you even make money?"

Long story short, Gwen had a bunch of pizzas and she was only one girl so someone was going to have to help her with these.

It was a quiet night. Just after midnight, a steady rain had started falling, drenching the island quickly and showing no sign of slowing. A few hours later, at 2am, the peace of the night was broken when the fire alarm started blaring. It would shrilly blare, stop and then repeat the same shrill blare two seconds later. And it was not going to stop until the all clear was given.

Thus, all the students had to carry their tired selves from their snuggly significant others or their snuggly beds to go wait IN THE RAIN on the dorm lawn. The fire department was making sure all the students were a safe distance away from the school so there were no awnings to hide under. All the students would be stuck out in the steady rain.

The fire department headed into the building but this could take awhile. Enjoy your fire drill, kids!

There were lots of delicious smells coming from the fifth floor common room, for Ronan, faced with hosting a potluck, had decided that he couldn't but go overboard with his own dishes: a chicken curry, thick, with lots of vegetables, and pot of vegetarian chili for those who preferred their food... not made of meat.

Savannah was a little more somber than usual as she got to the Gym and set up for practice. She pulled out the mats and made sure they were perfectly aligned. After doing that, she set up a table for the refreshments and then a table with the sign in sheet and the music.

The gym was alive with the sounds of techno as Savannah started stretching out.
[identity profile] iruinenglish.livejournal.com
At 2 am exactly, a loud buzzing sound rang through the dorms. An not just any buzzing. A loud, obnoxious "BZZZT!" followed by a two-second pause, followed by another "BZZZT!", followed by another two-second pause, followed by a... You get the idea. And the really bad part was the way it tended to feel like it was inside your head when it "BZZZT"ed as you were passing by in the halls.

So due to the "BZZZT"ing and fire safety regulations, the students had to drag their tired, cranky selves out of bed (or whatever), make their way down the halls and stairwells, and file out onto the dorm lawn in the chilly, damp weather, and did we mention it was 2 am?

The Fandom fire department was on hand, but they'd probably make everyone wait for a while just because they were cranky, too.

Priestly was perched on the counter again, this time next to the coffee pot. His mohawk was still green from yesterday, but it matched his "I sell crack for the CIA" t-shirt and he didn't want to risk getting dye on his clothes. He had his legs crossed -- never fear, he was wearing pants, no danger of accidental flashing here. And he was talking seemingly to mid-air.

"I'm just saying, man. I totally respect what you're fighting for, but you've got to be careful. Too many of you guys go on strike at the same time and it'll be really hard drumming up the right kind of sympathy for your cause. Plus you're totally risking potential union-limiting legislation. And look what happened to Hoffa. Okay, not what actually happened to Hoffa, but what people think happened to Hoffa. Not that I'm saying you guys have ties to the mob. And, anyway, you got to watch out for the scabs and stuff, undermining what you're trying to say. Are the French presses in the union? These are important questions."

Hannibal wouldn't miss the cabins much. Sure, they were fine for that rustic, I'm a Boy Scout kinda vibe but he liked the privacy of the dorms and he loved this deck. That's why, as soon as he was moved, he was back out on the deck, sprawled in a chair and enjoying the warm but not hot weather.

He kind of missed all the foreign locales they'd been to but this place wasn't bad. It was different, if anything. Good way not to get restless and it wasn't landlocked, either.

Hannibal quietly wished for a few things that would make this day even better and then hoped his wishes would come true.

"Mine!"

He cocked his head. "What?"

A second seagull took a beaked swipe at the towel. "Mine!"

Johnny narrowed his eyes, tightened his hold on the towel that was now looser than before. "Hey! Come on!"

Seagulls began to surround him. "Mine! Mine! Mine!"

"Come on fellas, I've seen the old classic and it freaked me out, okay. Go away. Shoo."

It was strange being back in Fandom, even after almost two weeks since his return. He'd not been getting out much, really, so it felt good to get up to the roof.

He pulled a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket, the first pack he'd bought in the past... Well, quite a long time. He usually didn't smoke alone, but something about the night just begged for one. So he opened the pack, slicing open the plastic cover with a fingernail (he really needed to get those cut), and tapped out one cigarette.

The spell to light it was easy enough -- calling heat was almost rudimentary, and, really, took almost less energy than pulling out a lighter, or striking a match. Breathing in, he let the smoke fill his lungs, and then released it with a sigh.

This wasn’t her campfire but, during one of the sunny breaks, she wandered carefully over to it and got a good blaze going before settling down on a log and wondering if anyone would try to get rid of her.

Well, she supposed, she’d just have to find out.

And there were marshmallows as a peace offering if anyone was upset by her nerve.

[Totally, totally open!]

Well, shoot. Jack was all set to start up the fire and cook some breakfast, but that won't be happening with the rain.

So he's just poking at the firesite with a stick, watching the rain puddle off his raincoat. "This just stinks."

After having been slacking around for way too long, Cal headed over to the gym that morning determined not to be distracted by breakfast, woodland creatures, or frighteningly optimistic redheads. Yawning slightly from the early wake up call, he came in, stretched a little, and then got to work on his bench press sets slowly to ease back into the trend.

[[ open gym is open! Although I'll hit a bit of SP in the afternoon to probably sit and wait at the Secretary of State for five hours. WHEEEE ]]

His brain was on lockdown. Possibly until the day Andrew and Karal got back from their trip.

He'd been conflicted this morning, once they were gone: how to fulfill one set of irritations without allowing another to slip in and wreak havoc within his mind? Lazing around wasn't an option, especially without Andrew. He didn't even thinking cleaning or doing laundry or organizing his budget would help. Practicing his magic was entirely out of the question, of course.

So he'd slipped down to the gym and started his stances. Gone into his sword drills. Started experimenting with combining them. Felt how one could shift into the other.

Stayed away from the punching bag.

Body body body. Stimulating nothing but his body, remembering nothing except with his muscles, feeling above thinking, practicing and making his flesh learn as his mind remained switched firmly off. Better that way. It would be better that way. He just hoped he could keep it off long enough that things settled and he didn't lose his mind...

[ooc: open like a gym thing for all your gym and liir-like needs]

Dorm Lobby - All Day

Meg was in the lobby all day behind a table with a sign that said Get Your Prom Tickets Here! There was a box full of pastries Meg thought looked good at J, GOB. And next to the pastries was a ballot box for prom court. She was pretty damn cheerful and she didn't even need a drop of caffeine to make that happen. Sickening, wasn't it?

[You will wait for OCD or I will smack you is up!]
