Cheerleading Practice: The Gym, Wednesday Afternoon

Claire hadn't listened to the radio yesterday, for a number of reasons, so she had no idea what had happened to her roommate. She was mildly worried as she set out the mats for cheerleading practice, but for some reason she couldn't stop humming.

Daddy I know you're going to be upset...

The song along with concern over Jenny had helped drive out self pity, which was a good thing, as she just didn't want to deal with that. Unfortunately, it had also driven out any thoughts that maybe people weren't expecting her at practice after the events of yesterday.

Z boggled at Claire, aka 'that girl she'd helped rescue yesterday.' "Should you be here right now?" Did that sound wrong? "I mean, shouldn't you be, I don't know...resting?"

"Resting, why?" Claire objected. She would have shrugged, but it was hard to do so while stretching her upper arms.

"I'm fine. Really."

Given, she didn't know Z had been there, as she'd been fairly dead when they arrived.

"Because...never mind," Z finally said after a long pause. If Claire was blocking it out or whatever, far be it from her to interfere with another person's coping mechanism.

Claire, in turn, nods towards Z's face.

"You were hurt, though."

Seely quietly stretched off to one side.

Claire didn't look in a particularly bad mood, but she chose to warm up on the other side from Seely, trying hard not to look at him at all.

It's wasn't exactly his fault, but that wasn't really helping her not freak out.

Chad was stretching out. Because it was important.

And muttering, singing perhaps, slightly under his breath.

When she pings in.

Aly was here and looking worried - for her - as she checked to make sure everyone was there.

I have nothing to say here.

Ron was a little bored from the five minutes of studying he did earlier and decided to wander.

Then he found the gym.

And girls. Jumping.

Maybe this school wasn't so bad after all.

Claire had discovered the best way to deal with traumatic events is to spend the next afternoon cheerleading, so by the time she had cooled down and finished practice, she was in a surprisingly good mood.

She recognised Ron from the party and the beginning of the semester, and bounced up the stands to say hi.

"Hi."

Like that.

And the flustered look on Ron's face would be again the fact that there's an attractive girl greeting him.

"Um. Hi! Yes. Claire, right? How've you been?"
