Third floor common room [late Saturday afternoon]

Luke, bored like a thing who had been cooped up on a train from Connecticut for most of the day, was in the common room watching television.

He wanted to watch Alton Brown.

Artoo wanted to watch Orange County Choppers.

"Artoo, stop changing the channel!"

...Things were going to get ugly in a minute.

Fandom seemed still mostly deserted, so Robin was pleased to find people in the common room. "Hi Luke! Hi Artoo!"

Chad, also relatively bored and having only gotten up...a little bit ago, drifted into the common room for some food, a naked kitten in a slightly overlarge pea-green sweater perched on his shoulder and meowing constantly in Chad's ear. Prince Oscar Pedro was mostly telling Chad about how he really didn't think the sweater was necessary. Chad, however, thought he was telling him a story about fish.

He glanced over toward the budding argument between Luke and the robot thing. "Hey," he said, lifting his chin, not wanting to interrupt, but not wanting to be rude, either, by not saying hi.

Wow it was like being back home again, only instead of a bunch of frogs fighting over the remote, it was a human and a droid. He didn't know who to side with.

"Who wants to watch what?"

"This is Prince Oscar Pedro Neko-kun," Chad said, once he got over the shock of realizing that Luke hadn't met him when he realized that, well, he hadn't met Luke's robot thing, either, unless he forgot. He reached over and skritched the kitty's ears; it did not cease the meowing, but it did start up an uncontrollable purr. "The Third. Who's your robot...thing...friend?"

And, in Chad's mind, Prince Oscar Pedro absolutely was.

The kitten meowed back between his purrs, mostly likely wanting to express that he really was ashamed that he had to meet someone new dressed like this. Clueless to the effect of Prince Oscar Pedro's meows, Chad pet him again before moving to the fridge to find something to drink. "Cool."

Chad nodded, grabbing his usual can of vegetable juice and some milk for the cat, who was remaining very expertly balanced on his owner's broad shoulders while he bent over to do this. "Yup," he said. "Always do. Too expensive to go home."

"If I went to Japan, yeah, other side," Chad said. "Could go to Mexico, too, which is on the same side, but still kinda far." He frowned a little as he poured some milk into a saucer; Prince Oscar Pedro promptly departed from his shoulders onto the counter, but waited patiently once there. "More....people," who were still alive, "in Japan, though. Where's your father's girlfriend's place?"

Chad...never really was good at the geography of America once you got out of the southwest, so he, after a moment to think about it, realized that he really didn't know where that was, and shrugged. "Yeah," he said. "Not as much snow as I thought around here. Not as much as last year, if I remember right. We got lots where I was last in Japan, but not as much where I grew up...."

Neither sounded more interesting to Robin than the other. "Maybe you could flip a coin?"

[identity profile] senor-chado.livejournal.com 2007-12-29 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Two suns? That must have been hot," Chad said, because, if he wasn't going to be the one stating the obvious, who would? Really?

Robin was out of ideas. Usually at home when there was a fight over the remote mom or dad would settle it by sending the kids outside to play.

"Oh." he scratched his head. "Uhm, is there another food show on after the motorcycle show?"

"Sounds like it," Chad said, giving light pats to Prince Oscar Pedro's back that Prince Oscar Pedro couldn't feel through the bulky pea-green sweater. "Did you do well at it?"

There was an orange blur in the doorway, and then there was a girl standing there, posing dramatically before bursting into song.

"Iiiiiiiiiii spent all! week! Kiiiiiiiiiiiiilling monsters!
And steeeeeeeeealing their stuff! (All their stuff!)
Weeeeeee kicked some major ass and then took some names!
(Lots of names!)
We went the whole way through and weeeeeeee fought Omega!
And we won! ('Cause we rule!)
Heeeeeeee was really old and powerful but we kick more ass! (Way more ass!)
So Iiiiiiii am back and I have looooooots of bombs and noooooooooow!
I need hugs! LOTS! OF! HUGS!"

She posed yet again, and then noticed her friend. "LUKE! HI HI HI! I'M BACK! GUESS WHAT I DID!"

Because .... that would be difficult.
