Meg had gone out by the campfire with the intention of reading for a couple of hours. Somehow reading turned into making s'mores. Then eventually making s'mores turned into catching marshmallows on fire for fun. Stanford must be so proud. In her defense, she was eating the marshmallows after she blew the fire out. Just peel off the really burnt parts and the marshmallow was still good.

Luke, after an afternoon of searching, had finally found the ride that went with the terrifyingly pony-sized helmet he'd woken up with.

Sadly, it wasn't a airplane. Or a shuttle.

It was...a scooter.

And the ground wasn't exactly level enough for a pony driving a scooter to be a comfortable match. So Luke's pretty, pretty  tail was now full of dirt and sticks as he righted himself for the tenth time and shot Artoo a pony glare.

"Would you stop recording?" he whined.

Artoo had no intention of stopping, no.

[OOC: Come on over and ride the scooter! My ponies were totally tricked out back in the day.]

Gladys had spent another night watching the stars. She wasn't sure when it had happened, but... "Why Am I A Pony?"

She was, indeed, a pony, and a rather perplexed pony, at that.

After a long sparring session with Jaina in the salle and and even longer shower (he was going to miss the unlimited water around here), Luke assembled some food made for sticks--marshmallows, hot dogs, weird Rebel rations that Yoda had always made fun of--and stretched out in front of the campfire.

The fire reminded him a bit of being back on Endor. Without the "being served over it" aspect, of course.

[personal profile] solo_sword
While it would be nice to have a summer without worrying whether or not any relatives would be listening to the radio and not feeling checked up on, Jaina also realized that she was losing the two people who helped her with her lightsaber training, too. This was definitely a downside, and she new that it just meant she was going to have to make it a point of getting down here more and practicing herself. She thought she might get a lecture if she was all rusty come fall, after all.

Making sure to stick a note on the door to give warning that there was someone back here with a nice live weapon that was known for chopping off limbs, she set up three remotes to start firing, and ignoted her lightsaber to start deflecting the bolts that were going to be coming at her at pretty high speeds.

[Yes I did have to go into old posts to make sure the salle was there. Open, as I have a couple hours before work still, but then it'll be SP till this evening PST. Fair warning.]

Gladys had lit a campfire. She didn't get cold -- even if she did, it was probably too warm to need one -- nor did she eat or drink, so it wasn't really of any use to her.

But there was a spot for a fire to be made, and so she had made a fire. It was her first (golems being known more for putting them out than for lighting them), which meant she was learning how to make it better.

Of course, she was doing this by reaching into the flames, rearranging the burning logs, then observing the fire to see if it was made better or worse. Hands in the fire, she regarded it seriously.

[ooc: Of course it's open! Of course there's a pun!]

Jaina hadn't really had the concept of summer that most people had. There hadn't ever been a break from school for her, and half the time she'd be on a different planet that wouldn't even have proper summer weather. But not having classes till later in the week certainly helped with the summer feel, so that was why Jaina was starting a campfire, and wondering if she should have gotten marshmallows or something first. Oops.

As Anakin had mentioned in the handwavy email he had sent to students' email accounts, sometimes unplanned children couldn't be blamed on a portal or Fandom weirdness.

So he was in the front of his classroom with a series of beyond thorough pamphlets on contraception, abstinence, and pictures of STDs. Artoo had been given free rein to find as many horrifying educational videos on the subject. He was rocking back and forth in giddy anticipation of scarring educating the local population.

Anakin had slapped on a sign on the door welcoming people to the seminar:

I AM TOO HOT TO BE A GREAT-GRANDFATHER
And other reasons why children should remain hypothetical for a long, LONG time
(Skywalker presence mandatory)

This should go well. Really.

After a few minutes of tinkering--fixing things took a little longer when you had a three-year-old helper--Anakin stepped back from the flight simulator with a small smile. Two identical podracer simulators were now set up.

"There," he said to the little girl. "Now you can podrace."

He'd left the door to the flight shed open. Last night's radio--and more than a few unfamiliar new Force signatures running around--let Anakin know there were more than a few little people on the island who might enjoy logging in some fake flying time.

Luke was not sulking about the fortune he'd heard earlier.

Really.

Yup.

The cookies were out of the counter and noticeably untouched. John had made cookies less appealing for the moment.

Luke had energy to burn and nothing to keep him occupied, so he wandered down to the salle, slapped a "Caution: Live Fire. Knock Before Entering" sign on the door, and warmed up before flicking his four remotes to life and beginning a sparring session.

He was heading back to see Yoda soon. It wouldn't do to be caught unprepared.

After a bath (Anakin's idea) and a stop to wrap Luke completely in bubble wrap (Luke's idea, but Anakin wasn't exactly objecting after watching Luke jump off his bed, his desk, the top landing of the stairs, and the kitchen table), Luke and Anakin were now out in front of the dorms.

Luke yanked on Anakin's hand. "X-Wing, Daddy!" he demanded.

"Very well," Anakin said, laying down on the ground. "Arms out," he said.

Giggling, Luke putting his arms out straight as Anakin balanced Luke over his head.

"Now the other part," Luke demanded, looking down at him and making starfighter noises.

Anakin grinned up at him, then reached into the Force and pushed Luke straight into the air, where he flew to just about level with the tree tops.

Luke shrieked with glee as he was safely caught. "AGAIN!"

Karal and Trenor had been all over the island, and now they were back where they'd started. Karal was laughing as they cantered across the grass and jumped a tipped over garbage bin.

He'd got to spend all day riding, and there were exciting places to explore and there was no one to get him in trouble for anything. This was just the best day ever.

The tilt of Trenor's ears indicated he wasn't so sure about that, but he was bearing it, and Karal, with good humour.

After being on the receiving end of a gremlin's bite, Jaina, Evey and Inara headed into the common room, because that was the best place for a show. There may have been a little strut like movement involved, even.

It was best not to wonder where they got the clothes.

At some point, a table was set up in the front lobby, complete with many pussy willows and small dixie cups full of water. There were plenty for everyone, and the cups were obviously refillable.

A neatly lettered sign was taped to the table. It said "Happy Dyngus Day!" and told people to go swat and splash people with impunity.

[ooc: Go forth and flirt! Remember, light taps and small splashes, and not without the other player's consent, but this can happen anywhere, not just in this post.]

John was bored and had nothing to do. Okay, so bored was possibly not the right word after he'd listened to his voice mail.

He wasn't sure where the bubble wrap had come from, but it was kismet. Huge quantities of varying sizes of bubble wrap plus one bored teen equaled some really incredible ideas. He drug the bubble wrap up to the roof along with duct tape and a bag of whatever he could find.

Testing the strength of bubble wrap was fun!

After spending most of the night in a Jedi healing trance, Luke didn't look like he'd had a wall dropped on him the night before.

Since he wasn't making cereal, it wasn't going very well.

Talking to Sam in the clinic yesterday had only increased Luke's never-helpful "bad feeling," so after checking in on Sam's pet as promised, trying to get Vladdie to come out from under the bed (not happening), and ignoring the irritated glares of Yoda the turtle, Luke trotted down to the salle with his lightsaber and a couple of training remotes.

He slapped a "Caution: Live Fire. Knock Before Entering" sign on the door and then kicked four remotes to life and began to practice, immersing himself in the Force.

All the girls were jealous because they wanted to be here and all the guys wanted to be with her and no one could evar tame her.

She took a seat on the sofa that wasn't worthy to be sat on, but whatever, and started flipping through channels using magic. The remote stayed on the table. She had learned new magic that meant she didn't need a wand or anything,a nd she could just do stuff. Because even if books were stupid she was just street smart.

Hermoine stopped when she got to one of the MTV channels that played music. They were playing her FAVORITE MCR song.

Romeo Montague had had a strange day in a strange week of what had been a pretty strange year.
Inspired by an episode of Vanessa Saturn, he decided a drinking game was in order. Specifically "I Never." And so invitations, written in a slightly florid hand, were slipped under dorm room doors -- some of new friends, some belonging to complete strangers.

There was a stash of booze set up under the coffee table, and Romeo sipped a rum-and-cider as he waited to see if anyone would actually show up.

Karal had dragged his blankets and pillows down to the common room, because they were supposed to be having a slumber party and some last lingering vestige of common sense told him he'd maybe tried Aravis' patience enough for one day.

It didn't matter, anyway. He was sure no one would come and it would just be him all alone in the common room and he didn't even know what he was supposed to do at a slumber party.

:Would you stop?!: Altra glared at Karal and leapt up to sit on the top of the fridge.

And now Altra was mad at him. Karal pushed some couches and chairs into an inward facing square in one corner of the common room, then went and sat in the middle of it, wrapped in his blankets.

Evey had found her room with little difficulty, and after tossing her bag towards one of the (thank heaven) two beds, she'd memorized where she'd be returning and wandered out to see what she might find.

And naturally, the there was the common room on her floor, with a television (granted, much older than she was accustomed to, but it would do.) And where there was a television, there was news, and ways to catch up with the fact that she was twenty years in the past.

As a result, Evey was curled up on the couch, quietly flipping through channels and trying to acquaint herself with a world that seemed somewhat different from her history lessons. Perhaps her memory was just a touch fuzzy.

Armed with a bottle of water and a towel, John had headed down to the gym for his daily workout. Just because he was on vacation didn't mean he could afford to slack off. Besides, he knew it would be a while before Rodney got himself together after their trip and maybe he'd see some old friends.

Like his room, the gym was just as he remembered it. As he ran laps, John wondered if the students here still had a flag football club.

After whining at talking to his father, Luke emerged triumphant with the keys to the flight shed and permission to take the shuttle up later that day.

And not that he thought he was rusty at all, but he didn't want to fly like a complete spaz when he went up with Jo.

So there he was in the flight simulator, racing through the Death Star trench scenario and burning off a little nervous energy.

The door to the shed was open.

The visit from the nervous artist kid the other day lead Adah to a startling realization, even if yesterday had proved it false. That only really provided that because it was quiet yesterday, it would be the opposite today, and, if she didn't want to be found, then why was she sequestering herself in the one place that anyone with half a brain would think to search for her? She should be hiding herself in the most unlikely of spots, the sort of place no one would think to find her, really. Even at the sacrifice of physical health. Because what was physical health, anyway? Certainly nothing she had ever been familiar with or ever expected to be familiar with, especially at the sake of her mental health, which she thought was very well in tact and treasured quite greatly.

Besides, it was a quiet morning with everyone below her probably still sleeping in due to the break from classes, although the cold of the coming winter was creeping in and worrying her that Virginia might still be too far north for what she grew up with, definately too north for what she'd become accustomed to. But, if she looked up at the clouds a little, so dull and boring compared to those orange and red clouds of dust of Kilanga, she felt a little bit calm, as if she could dull herself to blend with them and forget the pain from the journey up here. It was nice. It was worth it, assuming it stayed that way.

It was an exciting Monday afternoon in the common room. There was a Space Battles marathon on the movie channel and absolutely no classes to worry about.

Luke had a hyperactive puppy to babysit over the weekend and the both of them had been cooped up entirely too long.

Which was why they were outside. Luke was wrapped up his robe--even if wasn't cold enough for people not from a desert world to be particularly chilly--and was trying to make a pile of leaves using the Force (it was taking a while, most of the leaves on the trees by the school were still stubbornly stuck to their branches) so he could jump in them.

Karal was very deliberately spending the evening doing something just for him, something that involved no work or stress whatsoever.

He was curled in a chair in the common room, reading The Hobbit Halfling, and really getting into it. There were occasional exclamations of surprise or excitement, but they were in Karsite, so they probably sounded a little strange.

Amnesia or no amnesia, a guy has to eat, so DeanAlec ventured out of his room in search of breakfast.

The common room at the end of the hall had a kitchen in it and the kitchen had a fridge and many cupboards, which he correctly guessed held food. Could he cook? He didn't know, but he was hungry enough to give it a try.

Deciding that it had been too long since she'd practiced, Inara wandered down to the salle, in the hopes that they had a fencing foil or something similar that she could work with. When she picked up the foil, though, she found it too light for her. She eventually settled on an épée, finding it more like what she was used to. Once she had its weight settled comfortably and familiarly in her hand, she started running through a series of lunges.

She didn't have protective equipment on, but that would change if someone showed up and wanted to spar.
[identity profile] ecirpnellehada.livejournal.com
There was a television set in the common room. There was also a refrigerator, a stove, a table with legs that all seemed even, no comic books or coconuts wedged underneath merely to keep the surface somewhere near straight. It was genuinely level, made so in a factory of other things genuinely level.

Adah was avoiding these notions of perfect, smooth running as if they came bearing e.Coli and other such viruses, quite possibly even the black plague. Eug alp kcalb. She was curled up on the couch, tightly, creating a cocoon, surprisingly comfortable, in the corner, as if the arm and the cushions around her would protect her from capitalist conveniences of a nation free from the Heart of Darkness. She was reading, a giant volume of Poe, ridiculously huge and unwieldy, ironic to the work itself inside, unless she was reading that horrible novel. She wasn't, though. She was reading The Bells. Again. Backwards.

Ghouls are they.
Human nor brute, neither are they.
Woman nor man, neither are they.
Stone a heart, human, the on.

So maybe Eop rendered himself to backwards well every once in a while. It was enough to satisfy her so that that Adah was almost willing to forgive the television for being utterly useless.

Almost.

She was just hoping that her suspicion that most people would be out and about on a Saturday night was true to fact and that she wouldn't at all be bothered; she needed the change in scenery, though, just a bit.

John was a failure of a big brother for never sharing the wonders of chocolate with his sibling.  He decided to make it up to his little sister by gathering every sort of chocolate he could get his hands on for a tasting in the common room.

Which meant there was chocolate cake, chocolate pie, and chocolate pudding, in addition to a wide variety of chocolate candy, spread all over the common room.  Far too much chocolate for two people.

No, of course it wasn't burned. That might imply that she had followed the directions as best she could, and still failed. Which was certainly not the case.

She flipped through the channels on the television, no real aim in mind aside from steering away from anything with that obnoxious false-sounding laughter. It was a somewhat damp Karal who trudged into the fourth floor common room. He'd just come back from feeding Trenor, it was raining outside, and he had yet to be introduced to the concept of an umbrella.

This would be why he was damp, although damp might be too mild a term, looking at the matter objectively. Water was dripping down the back of his neck and off his curls, his shoes were squelching lightly, and his shirt was stuck to him.

Altra, who'd been fast asleep in the common room, took one look at him and started laughing so hard he fell off the back of the couch.
