The Gym - Tuesday Morning

Max had been going running, which was all well and good, but she decided it was time for her to become acquainted with the gym.

She found it early Tuesday morning and began running drills with the punching bag.

"How's it going?" Max asked, still punching the bag full out.

"Not too bad." She rolled her arms back and folded into a back-bend. "You?"

"Can't complain, I guess," Max said.

"Good," Cassandra said as she kicked up into a handstand. Then, settling back down onto her feet, "Spar?"

"Sure," Max grinned and stopped the bag from swinging.

She moved away to the open mat area and stretched her arms above her head.

"Just so you know," Cassandra offered as she moved out onto the mat, "I cheat."

Max smirked. "Good to know. That means I can to," she said, crouching into a fighting stance.

"When you're ready," Cassandra grinned and shifted slightly into a high stance drawn from Muay Thai.

Max circled Cassandra slowly, keeping her distance and trying to decide if she should attack first or wait to defend herself.

Cassandra decided to take the choice away and rushed forward suddenly and throwing a quick kick at Max's leg.

Max dodged the kick, but was impressed with Cassandra's speed.

She tried to grab the other girl's ankle and yank her off balance.

The leg was snapped back to avoid Max's grab and Cassandra danced away to open the distance between them again.

"You have good reflexes," Max noted, feinting right and then quickly shifting to aim a punch at Cassandra's stomach with her left hand.

"I cheat," Cassandra repeated with a smirk. She didn't even respond to the feint, and that left her with plenty of time to side-step the punch and throw one of her own.

Max let the punch hit and used the momentum to slide sideways and aim a punch at Cassandra's ribs.

Cassandra, in turn, spun to absorb that punch. It hurt, but not too much, and it lent speed to her spinning kick aimed at Max's shoulder.
