Cheerleading Practice, The Gym, Tuesday After Classes

Savannah headed down to the gym to set everything up for today's practice. She was bouncing around to the music she had turned on as she rolled out the mats and pulled out the bleachers for the watchers that usually showed up to practices.

She put out the sign-in sheet and grabbed some water and then started doing some stretches while she waited for everyone else to show up.

Lana hurried in after work and promptly got to down to the whole stretching out thing.

Chad, as always, took care to stretch well. Because it was important.

Following in his fake brother's footsteps, John stretched out well. He wouldn't want to end up with an injury, after all.

Annette stretched because it was important, especially before practicing.

Rikku bounced around. As you do.

Savannah was stretching and doing moves to make herself flexible again.

Seely stretched out carefully.

Z stretched and warmed up and all that good stuff.

Rikku lifted a hand. "So, uh, when are we doing the whole tryouts thing?"

"As soon as we know for sure how many spots we have open and we can coordinate with the entire squad to pick a day we're all available."

It did not exactly take teams of wild horses to drag Romeo to the gym to watch practice. Cute girls, little skirts, what could go wrong? He paged through a book while he watched.

Rikku waved. And bounced. She always bounced, so that went without saying.

When Romeo looked up from his book and noticed Rikku, he grinned and waved back, and mimed pompoms.

Rikku giggled. And shimmied her pom-poms. As you do.

"Do you cheer?" she laughed.

Romeo was stunned by the thought. "Do I have to, to be here?" he asked. "I just thought I would offer support." And by support, he meant "casual ogling."

She laughed. "No, no, you can totally just hang out, people do a lot. I'm just recruiting."

"Good," Romeo said, relieved. "I never so much saw myself as a cheerleader. Maybe next semester, if I like what I see this time."

"No harm in hanging around and watching," she grinned. "Besides, it's fun, I get to spaz out and bounce around like crazy."

"Then it's definitely worth my time to watch," Romeo teased. "Do you do tricks, or just the bouncing?"

That got a giggle out of her. "I'm a flyer! 'Cause I'm tiny. So they throw me up in the air and I do the twist-jump-things and then they catch me. Hopefully. And if they don't, I hurt someone."

"And I hope that someone is not yourself," Romeo told her. "But now I must stay and watch practices, so I can see a flying Rikku."

"I'm tougher than I look," she reassured him. "And now I've gotta get back so you can see some of our moves."

"Go jump around and show off," Romeo told her. "I'll see you later."

"You bet!" Rikku chirped. And waved again before bouncing back to practice.

And if she noticed him watching while they practiced, she was totally going to make faces.
