Romeo was channel-surfing, which was not entirely unusual.

What was unusual, though, was how carefully he was listening to the actual words people were using, instead of dismissing them as baby talk and watching the picture to put the story together.

he was hoping for a fake-Big Brother, and possibly some other friends, to try his enhanced (or possibly reduced) vocabulary on.

John had a bit too much fun perhaps in Spira with the lack of consequences that went with his fighting and his gun use.

"Girls & Guns? Sounds like a place to meet some interesting girls."

"I liked the ones I spoke with, Dojima and Triella," Romeo said. "There were other guys who came, so I was not completely alone."

"I'm supposed to go to some Language club with Andrew, but I keep forgetting when it is," John replied. "I don't think I've met either of those girls."

"I signed up for that, and I believe it was Friday," Romeo shrugged. "Triella is sweet-faced, with blonde pigtails. Dojima just came in."

"Ahh," John said, taking note of Dojima. "She's not difficult to look at." He was taken, not blind.

"I should say not," Romeo, who was neither taken nor blind, agreed. "She is Japanese, and we were paired in the egg baby assignment.

"How'd parenthood go for you?" John asked. "I had quite the time of it last semester, but those were no egg babies." He considered Steve and Bob to be more like the spawn of Satan.

"It was brilliant -- she suggested we find a nurse, so she did, and then I only saw the babe when the nanny brought him to me at work and before he was turned in. And then we were to smash him anyhow. What did you have last semester?"

"Ethics," John groused. "Prof. Skywalker assigned me twin droids and my partner went MIA for most of the week. Long story short - they cried endlessly whenever I was around them."

The mental image was hysterical, but Romeo managed not to burst out laughing.

Especially since terror struck him. "DO you think he would make my class do the same assignment?"

"Oh, right! You're in Ethics this semester." John considered this. "I'm thinking that yes, you'll end up with a droid-baby of your very own. Just pray he likes you and doesn't give you Steve and Bob."

"I do not want one child, let alone two," Romeo shuddered. "I pray he has changed the assignment, especially as I doubt he would permit us to hire a nurse."
