Flag Football Practice: Gym, Sunday Noon

John was feeling pretty good and had decided to run practice in a more traditional manner this week. He got to the gym and got out the footballs and flags before setting up cones around the perimeter of the gym.

"Okay, guys. Today it's time to get back to basics. After last week's, uh, interesting practice, I think we need to do some more focused work on passing and catching. We'll start with some good old fashioned laps around the gym and go from there!" John was far too excited at the prospect of running laps and was grinning rather a lot.

Chad...was not much of a fan of the running. So, while he did run many, many laps because he was a good team player and all that, he might have looked a little disgruntled about it.

Willow was there, taking notes and thinking that she still didn't see what was wrong with last week's practice.

This was much, much better than running or ass-grab. Chad tossed a football up in the air and caught it idly while glancing around to catch the eye of someone who might want to partner up.

Annette did some stretching first then started in with the laps.

Annette called out, a ways out from Chad, trying to get his attention, "I'm open!" Hopefully, you know, this would work.

Well, there was a good chance that Annette was trying to call out to someone else, but, after a quick glance around, he figured that maybe she did mean him after all. He gave his chin a quick jerk up in acknowledgment before taking a few steps back, his arm pulling back and then launching the ball at Annette.

And it was Chad, so launching was probably a very, very accurate word.

Yeah, wow, that was an incredible throw and Annette, jaw slack, backed up. Backed way the crap back, her eyes on the ball, and her hands in the air.

"Oh holy craaaaaap!" There it was, falling down, falling towards her and she grinned, just knowing she was going to catch it. And she did! But it was a hard throw and it sort of knocked her back on her ass as she fumbled to keep hold of the football.

Still... "Whoo! I got it!" Scrambling up, she bounced and waved at Chad. "I got it! Get ready for my throw!"

Billy had to take it easy with the stretching still. Stitches and all. But the lap running was rather welcome after spending a week in a wheelchair.

Billy was pretty sure that throwing a foot ball wouldn't mess up the healing process.

Oh, man. He hadn't meant to...

But once Chad realized that Annette was okay (although he was still a bit wide eyed, not that anyone could tell), he shouted out, "Good catch!" and then got ready for the return.

Annette knew there was no way she could throw hard and long enough to get the ball to Chad, so she strarted for him at a light run, hiking her arm back, fingers grasping the ball. Then she let it go, throwing as hard as she could; it wasn't a perfect throw, nor was it a great spiral, but it was headed for his general direction and she so hoped he could catch it.

And, besides, having partnered with Chad, the ball didn't have as far to descend to be caught. He had no trouble at all with the short jog toward following the path of Annette's toss so that he could easily catch it. "Good one!" he called back encouragingly, and then started a few steps back. "Ready?"

"Great catch!" Annette called out, grinning. Then she started to back up. "Ready Chad!"
