Fourth Floor Common Room, afternoon

One look outside at the weather was enough to convince Isabel that staying indoors and watching TV was the best way to spend the day. She made herself a cup of hot chocolate then curled up on the couch to watch a mini-marathon of the Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency.

Waiting until tomorrow morning for the hunting excursion was driving Turtle a little bonkers, so she went to go look for a distraction and found some on the fourth floor.

"Oh! Modeling show! Good choice!" She plopped right down on a couch without pomp or circumstance to enjoy Isabel's so-bad-it's-good taste.

"Eye candy and Janice being bitchy," Isabel grinned. "What more do we need?"

Chuckling slightly, Turtle agreed. "Not much. And it's about business, too! Really, not much better than that."

"I think it'd be good for the business if she kicked her partner to the curb," she replied, making a face at the TV. "He's smarmy."

"And no decorum," Turtle said, shaking her head ruefully. "Janice may be a bitch, but I think she's got a really smart wit about business sometimes."

"Absolutely," Isabel agreed. "She's taken what she was and built a pretty successful new career out of it. But she really needs to lay off the Botox on her lips."

Turtle's face twisted into a frightened sort of expression that made it very clear of what she thought of that Botox. "Amen. Scary, scary stuff..."

She paused a little, because the plastic surgery face could be kind of mesmerizing when she talked, and then shook her head. "Fashion is a pretty lucrative business. If I wasn't already up to my eyeballs in the service industry and now having to focus on law school, I would totally reap it for all its worth and start a Fandom Agency. With the load of pretty we get at this school, that could be one successful endeavor."

"She's starting to look like that one woman on Hearts & Scalpels. That's just tacky."

Isabel took a moment to consider her fellow students and nodded. "Extremely successful. We're probably the only school in the world where the yearbook can double as a catalog of a modeling agency's stable."

"So the store? And now law school? That's impressive."

Turtle ducked her head a little; aww, the girl was having a rare moment of modesty. "Aww, it's not that impressive, is it? There's a good handful of other students here looking into law, too. I mean, I guess I'm getting an early start on prepping myself for it, since I've still got two years before I even graduate high school, but, I mean, it's important! You can never be too prepared for something important."

"When I was a sophomore we were still focused on figuring out who we were and where we were from," Isabel explained. "College never even crossed my mind. I didn't even know for sure that I'd be able to go until last September. So most of my prep has been pretty last minute."

"...Huh." Turtle frowned slightly. Maybe she was being a little too crazy about it, then. Although, really.... "But...it's important. I knew the moment I stood in my first trial, that if I didn't get into Harvard law, I'll probably just about die."

Isabel was looking forward to her future career, but she wasn't sure if she was ready to be that passionate about it. At least not right now. "You've been in a trial already? I didn't realize."

"Well, just...the one, really," Turtle said, a bit slowly. "Last summer. The Samuel W. Westing murder trail, which was, at best, a bit unorthodox, but it presided over by a very high-court judge, so it was certainly still very official..."

"It sounds it. Personally I'd just as soon keep a low profile and avoid the courtroom," she said. "Right now I'm looking at event planning. I've been accepted at UNLV. Now I'm waiting to hear from Cornell."

"Oooh, Cornell's nice!" Turtle grinned. "Good luck! Event planning is still very, very cool. I would have totally considered something like that if I weren't already totally nutso about law, and then, if it weren't law, there'd be stock brokering to consider first."

"You could do both," Isabel grinned. "Lawyer by day. Savvy stock trader by night."

"Always the double life," Turtle grinned, straightening importantly. "I've got the student by day, entrepreneur...well, also by day, but you get the point."

"Totally. Of course now you're making me feel like some kind of horrible slacker," she said sheepishly. "Since I've just working the whole lazy student thing. What you see here? That's pretty much my plans for break."

"Oh, you're not!" Turtle said quickly assuringly. "I'm an obsessive overachiever, is all. I mean, I don't really have any plans for break, myself. Unless you count the trip off island this weekend, but I'm not sure if I would, it's just for Saturday."

Sky stopped by the common room on his way back to his own room after work to see who was in there. Forgetting for a moment, of course, that he was still DRESSED AS A GIANT BANANA.

"I have my own moments of obsessiveness," Isabel admitted. Anyone who'd seen her around Christmas would definitely agree. "I figure it's that attention to detail that'll help me career-wise."

Isabel blinked. "Well that's not a something you see everyday. But then again, it's Fandom. I could be looking in the wrong places."

"Absolutely," Turtle nodded with firm, convinced agreement. "One can't possibly get into any trouble by paying too much attention to details, right? But it can really easily go the other way if you don't pay enough."

"Hey, Sky!" Turtle waved from the couch, sinking into the cushions in an attempt to keep from just giggling terribly. She knew he had to wear for the job, but maybe he was just getting to like it, too.

"The trick is to pay attention to the details, but at the same time, not get too bogged down in them. It's a fine a line." One that Max and Michael would say she crossed when in holiday mode.

"So where are you going off island? Anywhere fun?"
