Dorm Lobby, Sunday Evening

In the lobby is a big-ass banner that reads "WELCOME HOME TIME TRAVELLERS AND AWAY TEAMS AND WORLD SAVERS AND EVERYONE". And... that's more or less it.

On a table in the corner is punch and pie. JUST punch and pie, and the punch comes pre-spiked. There's also a box with a sign on it that says "NO PIE unless you deposit souvenirs here". Feel free to ignore it.

Sokka, after the TREMENDOUS effort involved in planning a shindig such as this, is sitting on the couch and rubbing his eyes, which are still dry and burning from earlier.

"Shit, girl, that's a century too many!" He walked on over to hand-deliver the spiked punch. "Sokka don't believe in addin' a decent amount of alcohol to punch that needs it bad, but if you drink enough, that kinda makes up for it, yo."

Mel gladly grabbed the cup and didn't bother to sip it. "C'mon," she said waving her hand for Reno to add booze. "Load me up."

Reno grinned and shrugged. "Got some tequila up in my room. Was goin' to head out to Caritas, but this stuff was on the way. Figure I should make a run up to get the bottle?"

Tequila had a funny way of making victory parties that much better, right?

Mel shrugged and took a sip. "Nah. This should be good. I probably shouldn't be getting spun right now anyway."

"No? Why not? You got back in one piece or whatever, right?" This made for a confused Reno. Victory-time was a great time to get spun. "How was the -- uh. Trip?"

"Over in a blink of an eye but I feel burned out," Mel replied. "Course I just spent three months hoofing it between Egypt and England."

"I don't know where either of those places are," Reno supplied, so very helpfully. "But three months... Damn. You need a drink. And probably a bath or somethin'. But shit, drink first."

"I took a shower before I went in stasis," Mel protested. "Why? Do I smell ripe?"

Reno smirked and shrugged.

"When did you go into stasis? Probably been nearly a century since the last time you bathed, yo."

Reno logic strikes again.

"Yeah but it's not like I sweat or anything," Mel countered. "I just laid there and was in stasis."

"You know, it's more interestin' the way I put it," Reno laughed, then shrugged. "Good to have you back here, even if you haven't showered since, like, before you were born. Rikku was worried like hell about you, you know."

"Yeah, I'll be tracking her down soon enough," Mel said with a grin. "Plus I have to find Summers and check on her. You guys doing okay? No run-in with the statues?"

"Run-in? Shit, Mel, Rikku and I were on the relay-team that lured those ugly shits to their final restin' place." Reno scowled for a moment, darkly, before shaking his head and slipping back into his grin. "If I ever see another angel statue again, it'll be too freakin' soon."

"I had my own fill of those things," Mel said shaking her head. "But I'm glad you two made it through okay."

"That'd make the both of us." Reno nodded. "But from the sound of it, we ain't gonna have to worry about it again, so they can all grow moss and crumble, for all I care."

"I don't suppose I can find these things and bash 'em to bits?"

"If the explosives that Rikku set off on those things the other day wasn't enough to make a scratch, I'm thinkin' it'd just be a cathartic sorta beatin' on crap," he said. And then tilted his head, considering. "...Which, you know, ain't half bad, either."

"I am all for the catharsis of blowing up stuff," Mel admitted. "That's just all sorts of rocketship."

"Sokka mentioned gettin' a crapload of actual statues and settin' 'em up just to smash 'em to bits. Ain't nothin' like the real thing, really, but the whole 'crumbling to dust' part would be satisfyin', anyhow."

"Sweet. I'll write the check for 'em to Sokka as soon as he gets around to placin' the order, yo."
