third floor common room - saturday afternoon - 3/22
He didn't want to sit in Andrew's room since Andrew needed the rest and he was... restless. He couldn't go back to his own.
But he had something he had to work on.
It wasn't his homework or his magic study; those would not have resulted in the grim expression on his face. It was a letter, a letter he had to write to someone who held the singular honor of being the only non-stone being that Liir could honestly say he loathed.
It didn't help that they might be related. In fact, that made things considerably worse.
As such, he was curled up in one of the corners, notebook in hand (for a rough draft; he wouldn't send a notebook page back to Oz, after all!), scribbling out opening lines. For the moment, they were venomously polite but he'd had to scratch out a few cuss words that'd slipped out from the nib of his pen as well.
This was going to take a while.

He waved at the fellow student, writing a letter. He wouldn't pry.

"No food for the moment," he apologized, needing the distraction. It wouldn't help anything if he managed to actually cut through the paper with his pen.
"I could make you up something, though, if you're hungry."
no subject
And if it were permissable to raid other common rooms for food.
no subject
"I'm not. Hungry, that is. But I should make something, now that you mention it. Is there something you'd like?"
He needed to feel productive. He needed to accomplish something.
no subject
Really, he was just bored, not hungry.
Well, he was just bored, now he was a bit hungry.

"I like to cook, if you don't remember. And what I was doing was frustrating me anyway. Eggs?"
He was already reaching for them.
"How've you been, then?"
Distraction was good.
no subject
"I've been...here. Missed the statue thing. Were...were you involved?"
no subject
"Poached, coddled, scrambled, fried? Preference?"
He realized he'd been asked a question.
"Yes. I was on one of the away teams."
no subject
"What was it like?"
no subject
He started pulling out a pan and got some butter from the fridge.
"And you're welcome to help, if you like. I'm fine on my own, though. Perhaps you could do up bacon? A bit late for breakfast, but it'll still taste good."
no subject
"I nrrd to stay away from my stupidity," he stated. Not like it would happen, of course.
no subject
The pan was greased with a bit of butter, it was put away, and then he started scrambling the eggs in a bowl.
no subject
It wasn't coming. Sometimes, he just didn't get it.
no subject
A few herbs to the mix and then he's pouring it into the pan.

Bacon skillet was hot, and Jack started placing porcine goodness onto it.

First plateful of bacon done. Rest of the package to be soon followed.

"I'm not hungry," he said, thinking that he should perhaps make some soup. Andrew might like soup. He should make soup.
"Would you mind if I made soup while you're still at the bacon?"

no subject
"Chicken, I think. I'd like to bring some for Andrew and he's under the weather."
no subject
He found a box of noodles.

"I usually use a lot of spices, personally," he said with a nod. "And bacon, sometimes."

Oooh, chicken stock cubes.
no subject
Cubes?
Liir pulled a container of chicken stock from the fridge. He'd made it in the midst of another dish earlier this week and there was plenty left over.
He blinked at the cubes.
"What're those for?"

[sorry for the delay. Going off to be social in a second or two!]
