Billy was wearing a Gi, which he'd neglected to wear the other days. There was no particular reason. He was also holding a padded bo staff.

"Today we get weapons." he said with a smile. "Don't take the padding off. That'd be bad. Otherwise, have at it!"

Hoshi hadn't worked with weapons before. She picked up one of the staffs and waited to see what everyone else was doing with them.

"No," said Hoshi. "I've seen them used, but seeing and doing are two different things."

"That's true." Billy agreed. "You want to give it a try?"

"I think so," said Hoshi. "Who knows when I'll actually have to use this thing against someone? Or something, more likely."

"Either way it's a good idea." Billy nodded, demonstrating a good way to hold the staff. "This gives you the best control."

Hoshi nodded, and did her best to copy the way Billy was holding the staff.

"Okay now I'm going to strike at your stomach. I want you to block." he told her, making a slow attack towards her torso.

Hoshi instinctively swung her staff to block Billy's strike.

Billy nodded. "Very good. Now I'm going for your legs." He went a little faster this time, but not any harder."

Hoshi tried again to block Billy, but this time she changed her grip without thinking and failed.

"That's okay." Billy said. "Try again, only keep your grip, but you can let the staff slide a little through your grip."

"Okay," said Hoshi, once again taking the proper grip on the staff.

Sky picked up a staff and swung it around experimentally. Staff combat hadn't been a part of his training, but he'd still love to learn it.

Adam was comfortable working with staffs and he picked one up, twirling it around.

Biff was there, leaning against a bo, and going without padding. He figured if one of the students got the drop on him, he deserved the bruises.
