3rd Floor Common Room: Saturday afternoon [3-29-08]

Lana had pulled out paper and crayons and markers and scissors and glue. She'd even found some stickers and glitter. Now she was busily coloring away at the coffee table. There were cartoons on the TV and she was humming happily, tongue sticking out as she concentrated on what she was doing.

Willow poked her head in. "Hi! Are you doing homework?"

"Sort of," Lana said. "I am making signs to remind the nosy boys that they should be quieter. And a picture of a horse."

"Would you like to help? I have lots of crayons and paper and things!"

"Can we remind them to be quiet so that we can get homework done?" Willow asked, because she felt that was very important.

Hoshi excitedly ran into the common room, blankie in tow. She loved coloring!

Lana nodded, even though she wasn't entirely sure what homework was. "Yes, as long as they are quiet."

"Look, Hoshi! So much stuff to use!" Lana exclaimed excitedly.

"Yay!" Willow sat down to start writing. "Can we tell them not to steal Barbies too?"

"They steal Barbies?" Lana said looking horrified. "Yes. we must make more signs!"

Willow nodded solemnly. "They steal Barbies and then they don't give them back and it's awful 'cause the Barbie doesn't know why she was kidnapped!"

"That is very bad!" Lana said seriously. "Maybe we should make a sign saying no boys allowed at all!"

She wrinkled her nose. "Except for Lucas is very nice and very brave and Johnny is going to be a superhero."

"Xander's very nice too," Willow said. "When he's not stealing Barbies. He does the Snoopy Dance!"

"What is the Snoopy Dance?" Lana asked wide-eyed. It must be very good if it made up for stealing Barbies!

Wasting no time, Hoshi had a red crayon and a piece of paper. She wrote "bE QUiEt" in red crayon. "See?" she said, showing it to Lana.

"It's the dance from the Charlie Brown Christmas Special," Willow said. "Xander lets me sneak over to his house to watch it 'cause I'm not allowed."

Makoto, looking like 'her' regular self, wandered into the common room.

... 'she' was so glad this particular bit of weirdness hadn't hit her.

"What are you drawing, sweetie?" Makoto asked.

Lana smiled up at her. "A sign," she said. "To a'mind boys not to be so loud and scary."

Lana smiled. "That is very pretty, Hoshi. Look!" She showed Hoshi her own paper with careful scribbles that to her not-yet-reading mind said about the same thing.

"How come you is not allowed?" Lana asked. "It's Charlie Brown!"

"Boys can be awfully loud sometimes, I know," Makoto said, kneeling to be closer to her eye level, "but most of the ones here are pretty nice."

"Very pretty," said Hoshi, smiling. She looked at her sign and decided that it needed some glitter and stickers.

Lana looked at her skeptically. "Lucas is quiet, but a lot of them is running around and yelling and being airplanes!"

"'cause we're Jewish," Willow said. "My mom says if I watch it I'm giving into the Judy Oh Crispin agenda."

Lana was more than happy to pass her the glitter, only spilling a tiny bit as she did so. "Ooops!"

She tried to pick it up, managing to get a fair amount on her hands and face and in her hair.

"Oh," Lana said, looking suitably impressed even though she had no idea what it meant. "That sounds very important."

"That's true," 'she' admitted, "but they don't mean to be scary."
