Cheerleading Practice, The Gym, after classes - 4/8

Music was going, mats were out, healthy food and drinks were situated on a table at the sideline. And Annette was chilling out, just waiting for everyone to show up and get on with their practicing and meetings and whatever else needed tending too.

She looked up, smiling broadly. "Might be... Wanna see?" she asked, turning her notebook towards him.

"Can I?" Chad asked, tilting his head and leaning down a little bit for a better look. It might have been a silly question since she was moving the notebook to allow for him to take a peek, but Brooke could also just be teasing him. She was his little sister, so she was allowed to do that, after all. It was just a part of the job description.

Brooke offered it up to him so he could see the pages and pages of trendy designs for all the girls and boys. She wasn't really an artist, but she could come through on the actual garments. "I may have gone a little overboard," she admitted. "Once I started, I just kept coming up with stuff."

"But that's good, though, right?" Chad asked, glimpsing over the designs with interest. Never too much of a good thing, right? "Do you know which ones you'll stick me with? Or am I gonna have to wait and see?"

Again. Not because he was excited or anything.

She totally could have showed him, but instead she teased, "I dunno. I think I'm just going to have to surprise you."

"Not even just a peek?" Chad asked; he had been trying a bit of a pout in response to that, but it wasn't registering anywhere on his face. "So I know what I'm in for? So I can prepare. I gotta know what kind of vibe you want, stuff like that."

"But then wouldn't I have to let everyone prepare?" Brooke countered.

"Only if they asked, too," Chad said brusquely, because he was pretty sure that no one would bother taking it as seriously as he was, anyway.

She looked around at the others in the gym, not wanting anyone else to get the idea that she'd show just anyone. "Tell you what, how about a compromise. Willing to swing by on Friday?"

Which gave him only a little, tiny, minuscule amount of time to prepare himself, but it was better than nothing. Chad nodded, giving Brooke as covert a thumbs-up as someone his size could manage, which was to say that it wasn't very. The attempt was admirable, though.

"Perfect," Brooke said with another smile. "You're gonna rule it, I swear."

Chad grunted in agreement as he nodded again. "I better," he added.
