The Roof: Early Morning on Monday
Mel sat on the edge of the roof, her legs hanging over the ledge as she watched the sun rise over Fandom.
It's not a sight Mel typically seeks out as she's usually up late into the evening wandering through a graveyard or the preserves but nevertheless there she is watching the sun come up with a contemplative look on her face.

He walked up behind her, quietly, and said "Hey."
It was a beautiful morning, and he didn't want to break the moment, just yet. But he reached out a hand to lay on her shoulder.

He sat down next to her and put an arm around her. After an ill-advised glance downward, he clung a little tighter than necessary.

He trailed off, and looked at her worriedly.

Yeah. She's teasing.

He gave her a playful pinch. "Too hot to handle's a good thing. I mean, yeah, maybe I'm having a little trouble keeping up, but I kind of like it like that. No, I meant... I meant..."
He paused, trying to figure out how to phrase it.
"What happened Thursday night. I mean, not Thursday Night, but Thursday night before Thursday Night... Whatever it was, it was something big. And it's eating at you."
Against all evidence to the contrary, he added "I AM pretty observant, you know."

He shrugged. "You don't have to talk about it, if you don't want to. I just thought maybe you'd want to."
no subject
Mel? Avoiding the subject? Oh yeah.
no subject
He gave her another squeeze. "You're not the first friend of mine stuck with prophecy crap."

"But I'm also pretty experienced at being the Chosen One's sidekick. Whatever's going on... You're not alone."
Sokka bit his lip and raised an eyebrow. "I can and will ask Dawn what's going on, if I have to."

He sighed. "Okay, so Dawn doesn't know? Then I won't tell her. Look, it's... I..." A shrug. "Did the dream involve your past lives? Or a really condescending monkey? That's how Aang usually knows it's important."
no subject
She paused a minute before giving Sokka a weird look. "Condescending monkey?"
no subject
Sokka shrugged. "The way Aang tells it, half the time he's in the Spirt World, there's this wise old monkey spirit there being snotty at him. He gets condescending monkeys, I get kidnapped by a giant panda-monster. Doesn't seem fair, does it?"
no subject
"Man. You live in really strange world, Sokka."
Coming from the girl who fights demons and vampires.
no subject
"... But I'm guessing that means you haven't seen the monkey. So that's good, at least."

He stepped closer and toyed slyly with the hem of her shirt. "If we fall tragically to our deaths, it's your fault," he breathed.
