The Gym; Cheerleading Practise; After Classes, Tuesday.

Since this was exam week and there was lots of studying and getting ready for graduation (for some people) going on, practise today would not only have an 's' because Chad was running it, but it would also be a fun, easy kind of practise. He had the fun and easy Fun Run One mix playing and had more than enough fun and easy and stress relieving snacks...healthy snacks! Fruits and vegetables!...and got ready for a fun and easy practise.

Annette lowered his hand to her lap and stared at him, willing her eyes to water just ever so slightly. "Meanie."

He really needed to stop associating with cute blonde girls who could pout so damn well.

"Yup," he said, nodding to strengthen his conviction. "Great big meanie, that's me."

"I would forgive you if you gave me a little kiss," she tried quietly, biting her lip to keep her grin at bay.

"Oh, is that all?" A.J. asked with a light grin. "I think I can manage that."

And he did, leaning in to give her a small, brushing kiss against her cheek.

"So," she said all perky now that she'd gotten a kiss. "Don't you want to know what color my gown is? Huh?" She scooted closer to him, hip to hip.

It was kind of scary how girls could do that. Moodshifts at the flip of a coin...

"Uhhh, I'm guessing you want me to know what color your gown is."

Annette raised her brows. He didn't know he was supposed to get her a corsage? Come on.

Seriously?

"You... really don't want to know?"

...Did she expect them to match or something nerdy like that? She did realize that he only owned one suit, right?

"Uhhh, of...course I do. I was just teasing..."

Omigod. He didn't know. Did he even get a tux or a nice suit at least?

Was it different because she asked him? Was she responsible for everything? Omigod. Probably. Not that that was a big deal. But... he could at least get her a flower omigod.

"Um... I guess it can be a surprise," she couldn't tell him to get her one. "Have you... I mean did you have a tux, or a suit?"

"...of course I have a suit," A.J. said, frowning slightly. "You've seen it before, Annette..."

Did she want him to get a new one? A tux? How the hell was he going to afford something like that.

Yeah, she's seen it. She just thought he would get something new and didn't take into account his financial situation.

But his suit was nice and he looked great in it. It didn't matter, did it? No. She was going to prom with him and it was going to be great.

Annette smiled, squeezed his hand. "It's a nice suit too, A.J. Oh, and, don't worry about tickets, okay? They're taken care of," she told him, thinking she better get them bought tomorrow.

"Annette," A.J. said with a firm look her way. "I'm not letting you buy the tickets..."

"...but I asked you. It's only right," she argued.

"Nooooo, because I'm the guy, and the guy's supposed to get the tickets."

"That's only if the guy asks the girl."

"Well, the guy's supposed to do that, too, but I messed that one up, so I'll make up to it by buying the tickets."

"No you didn't. Maybe you had no intention of going. Maybe you had no intention of going with me and was too kind to tell me no. Maybe... you just wanted to stay home and paint... or something."

A.J. just looked at Annette, with a great big oh you so know me better than that look.

She was determined, but not that determined. Annette smiled. "Okay, sweetie, you buy the tickets. I'll take care of dinner."

"Good." A.J. nodded. "And you tell me what color your dress is and I'll make sure my tie matches."

"It's black," she said. "And simple."

"Ooooh," A.J. hadn't intended to start visualizing what it might look like, but now he was, and he liked what he was seeing. "Nice."

"A dull color for spring, I know, but... I sort of like simplicity," she said, grinning. And she didn't think it would be wise to wear the same gown she wore last year for prom. As if.

"I don't think that's dull at all," A.J. insisted. "I like it. It'll look fantastic on you. Simple, but elegant. What kind of material is it? Can I ask that? Is that too much knowing?"

"It's satin," she told him, smiling. "And thank you." Oh, he seemed awfully interested now.

"A.J.?"
