Fourth floor Common Room, Tuesday evening

Dean had spent the day in his room going through the books and other religious objects that Karal had left with him for safe keeping while he was off saving his world.

Evening had found him hungry and little stircrazy, so he grabbed the book of tales of Vkandis that he'd been reading and headed down to the common room to make himself a sandwich or two and to just be in a different space for a while.

When you got bored of the second floor common room you moved up to the fourth. It was just how it worked. At least that's how it worked in Meg's case.

"Hey," she said. "What are you up to?"

"Oh hey," Dean said, giving her a smile as he looked up from his book. "Just reading something that Karal left me."

"Well now I feel like a slacker. I've just been watching TV all day," Meg said, smiling.

"Slacking is a skill that should be honed well and often," Dean observed.

"Well in that case I don't feel too bad about it," she said. "Besides, I've pretty much already graduated. I can do whatever I want now. Or something like that."

"Yeah. You're college bound now," Dean said, grinning at her.

"Keyword there would be bound," she said. "Meaning that I've got a couple months of doing absolutely nothing. My slacking skills are going to be awesome."

"Summers at Fandom have always been pretty awesome," Dean said.

"Awesome as in a lot of beach time or awesome as in weird stuff?" Meg asked. She didn't mind either way. She just liked to be warned.

"Well, both, but lots of beach time."

"That's all I needed to hear," she said, grinning. "I miss practically living at the beach."

"In bikinis?"

"Yes, in lots of bikinis," Meg said. "I pretty much have a collection of them. Comes with the territory of being a California girl."

"Knew there was something I liked about that state."

"You pretty much get girls in bikinis wherever there's a beach. It's because we like tanning," she said matter-of-factly. "Can't tan with clothes on. So lots of bikinis."

"This is the kind of logic I like."

"Logic and nakedness should be put together more often," she said.

"There should be a workshop on that," Dean said enthusiastically.

"There should be. If they got the right teacher that is," Meg said. Definitely not Anakin, if that lecture thing from yesterday was any indication.

"Just who I was looking for," Dawn said, notebook and pen in hand. An observant individual might think she was in the midst of planning something. "All your kids get off okay?"

"Yeah. Yours?"

"Yup." Unfortunately, in at least one case. "Kinda missed one from last year, though, y'know?"

"Yeah," Dean said, with a soft smile, slightly bittersweet. "But hey, just proves that John William actually listened when told to stay away from portals."

"That would be a very big change," she smirked, "especially remembering what he was like."

"Hey, he totally knew when to actually mind," Dean protested.

Dawn started snickering. "Sure. Whenever he wanted to."

"Or when things were actually serious. He's a good kid."

"He is." And, strangely, she'd missed him. Weird. "So, in other news, I've figured out where I'm going to college and we have to plan Sam's birthday party."

"I've got that under control," Dean said confidently. "And wait, where are you going?"

"What do you have under control?" She eyed him suspiciously. "UC Berkeley. So you won't have to worry about that plane thing if you don't want to."

"Amusement park," Dean said.

"Amusement what?"

"Amusement park. Y'know, rides, games, lots of junk food?"

"Did you talk to Sam about this?" It wasn't what he'd mentioned wanting at all, which had Dawn a little worried.

"Wouldn't be much of a surprise if I did," Dean said logically.

"Well, okay, point, but..." Dawn chewed on her lip for a minute or two, "Sam just said he wanted to hang out with a few friends when I asked."

"And he said last year that he didn't want a party at all." Dean shook his head. "He just says things like that because he doesn't want to ask for things he isn't sure he'll get."

Like the puppy. Dawn still wasn't sure this was the best idea, but she'd go along with it for both of their sakes. "You guys are totally gonna cheat at all the games, aren't you?"

"Well yeah," Dean said. "It's not like they're not rigged so we're just really evening the playing field."

"I expect prizes," she told him.
