Dean was bored of his room, so was out in the common room, feet propped up on the couch, soda and a big bowl of popcorn within easy reach as he divided his attention between American Idol and another one of the books Karal had left him.

Vkandis had some damned cool stories told about Him.

Peter snuck a peek into the common room. "Deadliest Catch?"

"Deadliest Voice is more like it," Dean said, looking up from his book and gesturing at the tv.

"New episodes!" Peter said, as though the assumption that it was only reruns was what kept Dean from changing the channels. "Brand new season, with tons of bad omens."

"I get enough bad omens in real life," Dean said.

"Akaska king crab fisherman?" Peter tried. "Working to survive Mother Nature while they try to earn their living?"

"It's a fishing show?" Dean asked blankly.

"Crab fishing," Peter said. "Up in the Bering Sea. 800 pound pots, sub-freezing temperatures, and waves so high you get vertigo just watching."

"Has anyone ever actually made it big off this show?" Isabel asked as she took a seat on one of the chairs.

"Kelly Clarkson and Chris Daughtry," Dean said. "Not that I'll admit to knowing that if asked by anyone else."

"Your secret's safe with me," she grinned. "I've heard of Kelly Clarkson. Her song was certainly played enough. But I'm not sure I've heard the other."

"He's hit it pretty big with his band," Dean said. "Music's not completely awful."

"I'll have to check it out. Given that enthusiastic recommendation," Isabel laughed. "Actually speaking of things to check out, a few of us were thinking of going out on Thursday night to check out some of the clubs if you and Meg are interested."

"Yeah sure," Dean said. "Sounds good. Get in some fun before the newbies arrived."

"Excellent," she smiled. "It'll be a fun night out."

"It's weird to think I'll barely get to meet the newbies before I'll have to leave. I'm not sure I'm ready for it."

"We're only going to be a phone call away," Dean reminded her. "Speaking of which, it's Alec's birthday tomorrow. I'm going to call and leave him a message; figured it might be cool if some of his other friends did too."

Sam peered into the common room, looking back and forth between Dean and the television. "Tell me you only have this on for background noise," he said.

"More or less," Dean said, looking up from his book.

"If I catch you watching one of those fashion shows like Peter, I'm pretending we're not related," Sam warned.

"He's been going on about crabs or something," Dean said.

"I'm going to assume he means the animal and just pray for his sanity," Sam said, peering over Dean's shoulder. "So, what are you reading?"

"One of the books Karal left with me," Dean said.

"A book to teach you stuff? Or a book for pleasure reading?" Sam asked.

"Little of both? It's like adventure tales -- like myths and legends type stuff."
