Little Dipper Campfire [Sunday Evening]

So far, Ned hadn't changed into an animal. Or been bitten by a gremlin. Or had a run in with a vampire.

Instead, Ned had gotten lost on his own floor, had to fight his dog for space on his bed and had to re-pack everything to move down to a cabin. He hadn't been camping in...ever. His father had promised but then there was that postcard and the boarding school and everything else.

"It's rustic," Ned said quietly, looking over at Digby who was a safe distance away. "Right?

Digby didn't answer. "Right," Ned said, nodding and crossing his arms. "Rustic."

[Open campfire is OPEN. I love cabins.]

"Yeah, because you're new, and it was the nice thing to do!" she argued.

"I was merely trying to clear up any misunderstanding," Worf snapped.

And then something about the girl's name and way of arguing seemed to click with something that had occurred earlier at the picnic.

"You are Katara. The brother of the boy with the strange pony tail."

"There was only misunderstanding because you decided to order me around," Katara snapped back. "And yes. What of it?"

"If my manner seemed rude, I apologize," Worf said trying to restrain himself. "And if you are his sister, you should know that he thought we should mate. I want to state clearly that is not my intention."

Katara's attention was completely diverted. "He thought what?"

"He mentioned you during our conversation at the picnic," Worf declared. "And said that we should get together. I explained to him that relations with a human would be dangerous as they are fragile compared to Klingons."

"There will be no relations!" Katara shouted. She paused. "I'm going to kill him. I already have a boyfriend - person."

"I did not say there would be," Worf said looking disgruntled. "I am merely repeating what your brother told me. And while you seem... charming, I do not wish to pursue a romantic relationship."

"Well, since you're the least likely person in the world I'd be interested in," Katara snapped. "I'm glad you think that. I'd hate to have to freeze you to the wall for a while."

"There is no reason to snap at me for your brother's insanity," Worf snapped back. "I was merely relaying facts that you obviously were not aware of."

"Don't you call my brother insane," she yelled at him. "At least he's not an jackass who thinks he can order people around and then insult them!"

"I did not order you!" Worf roared back. "You misinterpreted what I said!"

"DON'T CALL ME STUPID NOW," she screamed, stomping her foot. "I did NOT misinterpret!"

"Do NOT put words in my mouth," Worf snarled back. "I never called you stupid. Obstinate! Stubborn! Loud! Those would be more accurate!"

"And you're rude, bad-mannered, and a pig!" Katara snapped.

A very loud growl erupted from Worf as he stood up from his place at the fire. "That will be quite enough!" he roared.

"I TOLD YOU NOT TO TELL ME WHAT YOU DO!" she yelled, her hands on her hips and just barely keeping herself from going for water.

Worf made a face and bit back his initial response.

"Fine! I will desist in this argument if you do the same," he growled.

Katara eyed him, still wanting to fight. "Fine. "

"NO IT DOES NOT!" Worf yelled. "IT IS A COMPROMISE!"

"If it's a compromise, why are you screaming about it?" she snapped.

"Because you are a pig-headed woman who does not know when to quit," Worf shouted.

"I'd quit if I had a reason to!" Katara shouted. "But I don't! You're still rude and annoying!"

Worf's eyes looked like they were about to pop out of his head.

And he began shouting insults at Katara.

Unfortunately they were all in Klingon and any universal translator was several hundred years away.

Katara stared at him for a long moment, wondering if he'd gone completely mad before she realised that it was another language.

And then she burst out laughing.
