Centaurus Campfire, Sunday Evening

Deciding to give the place a chance, squirrel spying and all, Temari started up a fire and sighed. This was much more like home.

Maybe an angry letter home wasn't necessary.

Yet.

[[Open as a campfire should be. Or else there's just smoke everywhere and it's a bad thing all around.]]

"Only because I don't know you," Turtle said. "And I try to know everyone. So it comes down to you being either a)new or b)insanely reclusive, but, since you're out here by a fire, I felt I could discount option b."

Turtle nodded. "Yeah, that's when they all came in." Her eyes widened a little but she smirked. "So, quick important questions: when and where are you from, who's your regular roommate, and who's your big sibling?"

"Yeah, you know," Turtle vaguely gestured, "when. Although Sungakure sounds like one of those other-world type places, so the when might not be applicable. That's mostly from people who think they're from this world, but aren't. Or people from all the planet hopping that goes on in about fifty million futures."

She paused, head tilting.

"I should make a form for these things."

Be still her poor, poor heart.

"Yeah, you know. Forms. Papers. With copious amounts of delicious, wonderful information in complex, deceptively unorganized fashions."

"Some sort!" Turtle snorted a derisive laugh. "Please. I'm the best little bureaucrat on this island. You should see the amount of forms in my room!"

"Well, if you ever find yourself needing to again, and just want to write it off," Turtle offered, "I'm here to help. I love them, I'm good at them, and I'll do them for you at only a small, nominal fee."

"Insignificant," Turtle pointed out. "Minimal. A bargain, really, for the level of convenience and luxury it will provide."

"There's a great currency exchange program at the bank!" Turtle chirped in cheerfully. "And, of course, I'm always willing to give you a loan, with very respectable interest rates, too!"

Turtle sucked in a slight breath, with a slight shake of her head. An expression of distaste that was trying to seem guarded about the disapproval.

"Hey," she commented idly. "It's your finances."

Finances was said much like other people used that phrase with funeral.

"A kid?" Turtle asked, quirking an eyebrow at Temari. "Right. You know I'm not just any kid, right? Ask anyone around here about Turtle Wexler, and they'll tell you, trust me. Besides, exactly how old are you, anyway?"

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-05-12 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
"That's only a year older than me," Turtle pointed out. "There has to be at least two years of separation before you can call someone else a kid, you know."

Turtle frowned at Temari a little, and was tempted to inform her that, yeah, and she was probably the richest independently wealthy person her age when she was that age, but she didn't feel the need to brag about it and think that that made her special. Instead, she tried to just shake it off and shrugged. "Then you should know better than to just assume people incapable or less responsible than banks based on just age, shouldn't you?"
