Caelum Campfire, Sunday Evening

Ino had marshmallows, was sprawled in front of the fire she’d set up in front of her cabin and hummed a little as she kicked her legs idly.

This was a really weird idea of camping, all things considered, but she wasn’t going to complain. It was way better than when they went out on missions. She grinned as she tugged a marshmallow off the stick she was using to roast them in the fire.

Marshmallows were totally an improvement on camping back home. And maybe someone would come by and she could bug them about how to actually pronounce the name of her cabin.

…That’d probably be a useful thing. Yes.

[Open as a campfire is!]

"Yes." Cimorene said dryly. "That would be why I got bored. Well...traditionally they kidnap princesses, but I volunteered. I thought it would be a nice change of pace."

"No." Cimorene said patiently. "I walked into a dragon cave and informed them that I wanted to work as a princess. After they got over the shock, Kazul took me in."

"Sorted the library and store rooms, cooked, cleaned, served dinner, and stopped a revolution." Cimorene rattled off.

"The full title is Chief Cook and Librarian. And I'm still a princess. Dragon's don't have servants. All princesses are good for is giggling like idiots and getting married. I can think of a hundred better things to do." Cimorene informed Ino. "And no one ever notices those who they think are stupid or beneath them."

"I have six sisters." Cimorene pointed out. "And it's not a generalization when everyone believes it and acts like its the truth."

"According to my parents, sisters, and everyone I have ever met, with a few exceptions, they do believe that." Cimorene informed her. "I was engaged to a prince I had met for all of five minutes and who spent all five of those minutes talking about how wonderful he was. Here? It's different."

"It is." Cimorene nodded. She had even met one. "But ninety-nine times out of a hundred - actually, more than that - the princess comes out petite, blond, and ready to be a doting wife and future queen." Cimorene was none of the above.

"You are very lucky." Cimorene informed her with a lot of feeling.

"Oh um." Cimorene chocked down a laugh. "We melted the wizards, which made the ... bad dragon drop the stone and ... then tried to convince the other dragons not to eat us. It was a lot more exciting and adventurous than I'm describing."

"Only wizards." Cimorene said. "And only some. Soapy water with a little bit of lemon juice, and they're out of your hair for a while."
