Draco Campfire, Monday Morning

Hinata, despite the fact that she had to live now with seven other people, was feeling more at ease. Yes, this wasn’t quite the same as mission back home, but a campfire at least held more than enough good memories of Kiba, of Shino, of Kurenai-sensei, that she didn’t feel quite so adrift at being here.

And Ino-san was around, that helped too. A familiar face, one that had always been kind enough to her.

She started a fire then sat close to it, feeding it twigs and thought about maybe, maybe going exploring later that day.

"Specialities?" she glanced at him. "I-It's not all one thing?"

"Well, most wizards can all do the basics, but some specialize in shapechanging, some in communication spells, some in fire..."

He got a rueful smile for his efforts. "I-I suppose it's much like how not all ninja can do quite the same thing."

"Exactly," Seregil said with a smile.

"I-is magic hard to learn?" she wondered, "Or can anyone do it?"

"You need to have been born with the gift," Seregil explained. "It's not something everyone can do."

That got a long considering--if still somewhat timid--glance from her.

"D-do you have the gift?"

Seregil smiled a little. "Yes and no. I do seem to, but it... doesn't work right."

"I-it's broken?"

"Something like that. It's like... I'm allergic to it or something."

"You're allergic to yourself?" That got a tiny frown.

"Not to myself. But... when I attempt a spell it rarely if ever goes the way it's supposed to. And if certain spells are cast on me, I tend to get very ill."

"Do you get spells cast on you often?" Hinata asked. "Must they be renewed?"

"Often enough," Seregil said with a sly smile. "I sometimes have to travel by portals or there's some shapechanging needed..."

"A-ano," she said, taking the smile into account, "I d-don't think you said what it is y-you do back home."
