The Camp Gym; Monday Morning.

It had been a bit of an effort, but Cal forced himself out of bed early that morning to get back on track of things. Well wrapped and with his loosely fitting clothes, he did a bit of stretching and then headed over to the little gym enclosure, spotting out some weights and hoping to get a really good set and workout in before he had to even start worrying about his workshop later on.

He didn't know exactly how he felt working out in a public spot like this, but maybe it would be early enough that the place didn't get much traffic. Maybe he should move his workouts to late at night. No one would workout at night, but then he lost the feeling he got throughout the day of having known he'd done the work and could feel out whether it was helping to make his body seem less...what he didn't want it to seem.

[[ this would be assuming there be weights and stuff like the school gym, la. Open, of course ]]

He laughed, just a little, and nodded.

"Something with stars?"

His question was entirely innocent as the innuendo train tended to pass by his station unless it was coming from Andrew but he shook his head anyway.

"Either way. I'm assuming you're just come here, since I've never seen you before. Are you from this place? Earth, I mean?"

"I don't know how you could not know what a cigarette is," he said with a blink. "Even I know that. Even I knew that where I came from. Who's your roommate, if you don't mind me asking."

"I'm sure. You can't judge someone by what they know or don't. It's probably not their fault, after all."

That had the ring of personal experience to it.

"I haven't met him though. Is he new as well?"

"Well, I don't know much, but if there's anything I can help with, let me know."

He smiled, just a little.

"I'd offer cooking, but you seem to be one of the very few people who don't insist they'll burn the kitchen down."

He kept his comments to himself.

"I suppose it's a tradition?"

"I'm sure it's better than you think it is," he said encouragingly. "You might want to talk to Miss Lulu about it, if you are really interested. She did the cooking class last semester."

"I'm not much for lazy," he said with a short laugh. "And we should. I don't usually cook with anyone else, but I enjoy doing it with Miss Lulu. And I'm always happy to learn."

He ran a hand through his hair.

"Normally, I'm on the third floor, though--"

And thoughts of Andrew crashed down around him. Would he be down on the second floor much? Did he want to be? What the hell had happened earlier? What had he wished would have happened.

His eyes darkened for a moment, but he shook it off. It didn't matter.

"Though sometimes I'm on the other floors."

True... even if he wasn't sleeping on the second floor anymore.

"Definitely."

It was nice meeting someone new. Someone who shared a little bit of similar history. Someone who hadn't seen him come in as a vagabond, for that matter.

He wanted to show his best to this person, prove that he could be something that passed for normal, perhaps.

"Well, I should probably be going to class now," he said after a moment.

"But it was nice meeting you."

"Certainly. I'm in Scorpius, like I said."

And then he gave a quick nod, almost like a bow, before pulling up his things. There was a considerable minute or two while he looked at the broom next to his bag before he finally stradled it, kicked off, and headed off for a quick flight to clear his mind before class.
