The Camp Gym; Monday Morning.

It had been a bit of an effort, but Cal forced himself out of bed early that morning to get back on track of things. Well wrapped and with his loosely fitting clothes, he did a bit of stretching and then headed over to the little gym enclosure, spotting out some weights and hoping to get a really good set and workout in before he had to even start worrying about his workshop later on.

He didn't know exactly how he felt working out in a public spot like this, but maybe it would be early enough that the place didn't get much traffic. Maybe he should move his workouts to late at night. No one would workout at night, but then he lost the feeling he got throughout the day of having known he'd done the work and could feel out whether it was helping to make his body seem less...what he didn't want it to seem.

She didn't actually know the answer to that. "It just is," she said after a moment. "Being someone or something you're not, doing thngs you wouldn't normally do, I think that sort of thing is usually embarrassing. Plus I'm eighteen and my parents aren't around to be embarrassing for me so I have to get my teen angst from somewhere."

"Seems an awful lot of effort," Cal pointed out with a slight shrug, and a small, slightly teasing grin. He could understand that, of course. Of course, his embarrassment and teen angst came from not having to go through something that everyone else was going through; nothing quite like going through a phase of pretending to have a period that would never come to show you what a waste of time teen angst could be. "Especially for something that happened for just a brief amount of time. I mean, hey. You got better."

Jaina narrowed her eyes slightly and said, "I hear you using that logic on me." She shrugged a little and said, "Honestly, if it was really bad, I wouldn't have told you on first meeting. Probably."

Gingerly, Cal rubbed the back of his neck, hair still damp but cooled from sweat. "I gotta watch that whole...logic thing, I know, but, hey, that was pretty logical right back at me."

"I know," she said, readjusting a glove. "I'm a huge hypocrite. Sorry."

Maybe it was the good morning. Maybe it was the adrenaline from the workout so far. Maybe it was the mere fact that girls at this school for some reason actually talked to him and didn't seem absolutely annoyed by it.

Whatever it was, Cal didn't think he would ever really figure out why he said it as he got up from the bench, slinging his towel over his shoulder and moving toward the next weight machine. Ever.

"Good thing you're cute then," he commented, well before he could even realize what he said, and then settled in to work on his next set.

It was rare that Jaina found speechless, but sad to say she still wasn't used to hearing things like that, despite the fact that she totally should have been for many many reasons (namely John, Kyp and Zekk). Trying not to seem too stunned, she managed a, "Uh, thank you."

Cal was probably less used to saying things like that than Jaina was probably used to hearing them, so, under the shocked realization that he actually had said it, he didn't say anything more. He just went right about seeing to his next set as if he hadn't said anything, and then maybe they could both completely chalk it up to their imaginations.

No one could say she wasn't a champion represser. After a few more hits in at the bag, she pulled off one glover at a time. "Told you I'd be quick," she said with a little smile. "I'll see you around, right?"

"Yeah," Cal said, jerking his chin up without interrupting the stead movement of his arms. "See ya..." Hopefully. Maybe. Hopefully maybe not. Either way, it did make Cal think that perhaps encouraging himself to get to the gym might not be so difficult after all.
