Virgo Campfire, Monday evening

Dean had spent most of the day just hanging out, with a side trip to the library to make sure his geek of a brother remembered to eat lunch. Now that it was dusk, he was taking advantage of the camping and had started a fire in the cabin's firepit. He had marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate, yes, but he also had weiners and hot dog buns. In other words a full meal that can be cooked on sticks over flames.

The basics sometimes were the best.

Alice was still somewhat edgy, that the cabins all had these little pits of flames, but she tried not to let on. Everyone else seemed fine with eating and chatting and watching the fires crackle, so she would try to do the same. It helped that they were small, and contained.

She smiled uncertainly at her newly-assigned big brother. "Are those for anyone?" she asked, noting the food surrounding him, hoping the question wasn't rude. Food certainly made fire seem more palatable.

Dean looked up and smiled his welcome at her. "They're for anyone who's hungry and wants some," he said.

"Then I qualify twice," she beamed, taking a seat nearby. "I don't know that I understand this 'camping' idea just yet, but I'm becoming more fond of it all the time."

Meg was slowly but surely getting used to the whole outdoors thing. She still looked a little uncomfortable about the whole thing. Meg didn't need a compass or anything to find Dean though.

"You know what's going to sound weird?" Meg said, sitting down next to him. "I've never had a s'more that wasn't made in a microwave."

"Fandom camping is awesome," Dean observed. "I've had a lot of good times in the cabins."

"Okay, that's a stunning lack in your life experience we're going to solve right now," Dean decided.

"I haven't met all of my cabin-mates yet," Alice admitted. "Though I suppose we've been here less than a day, it isn't as though one's likely to go round to each curtain knocking and introducing one's self. I don't exactly see how one could knock on a curtain to start, to be frank."

"Oh good, I've been looking to check that off my life's to-do list for forever," Meg said, grinning. "My family isn't into the camping thing. Actually, they aren't into the outdoor thing unless there was a hotel five feet away."

Alice hoped it wasn't rude to start conversing with people without a proper introduction; she'd been doing it for most of the weekend, since the picnic, and if her mother could see her, she would be thoroughly ashamed. Not that that was likely, since her mother was dead.

"I fear it might sound weirder," Alice said, "if I confess that I've no idea what a smore is."

"No, I don't think that's weird. You're definitely not the only one around here that doesn't know," Meg said, giving the girl a friendly smile. "It's just a little sandwich made of graham crackers with chocolate and marshmallow it. It's the food of choice around campfires."

"You knock on the support next to the curtain," Dean explained. "If it makes you feel better, I haven't met all of my cabinmates yet either."

"Yeah, Lizzie didn't strike me as a taking hiking type."

"There, the obvious answer presents itself," she smiled. "Perhaps we should call some grand sort of cabin meeting. Hello, good to meet all of you, if any of you have been sneezing terribly that's my fault, or more precisely Dinah's."

"Oh god, I don't think Lizzie even owns a pair of sneakers," Meg said, laughing.

"Oh, that sounds delightful," Alice grinned. "Do we have those? I know I saw marshmallows and some crackers lying about."

She had only been herself a week, and most of that had been spent eating gray, tasteless asylum food. She was going to be very fat at this rate, and she would be terribly happy and round, at that.

"I think Dean's got everything for s'mores, yeah," Meg said, looking around the campfire. "Oh, I'm Meg by the way."

"She's... quite a character," Dean observed, chuckling.

"She didn't traumatize you or anything, did she?" Meg asked.

This whole "camping" thing is... well, pretty much something Wes has only ever seen on television or the movies. So he's wandering around, trying to get more of a feel of the place, when he sees the crackling fire near one of the cabins and the people gathering around it.

"So, how does this work?" he asks curiously. "Do I have to live in this cabin to hang out here?"

"Nah," Dean said with an indulgent smile. "I don't traumatize easily."

"Nah," Dean said. "We welcome most if not all comers."

"Well, hopefully I fall in the 'most' category, then," Wes says, taking a seat.

Meg smiled. "Good. Didn't want my family to scare you off."

Cal whose mun should not have days off omg was wandering back to the cabin after a really insanely successful Monday, more successful than any Monday had any business being, and planned on just crashing on his bed and calling that good.

But there was a fire.

And marshmallows.

And hot dogs. O, Muse, how you have inspired Fate to rear its head once more in the direction of your wayward daughter-son.

"Fellow Virgo?" he ventured. "Or dirty campfire usurper?"
