Camp gym, Friday afternoon

Jaina had been pretty dedicated in her training for a while now, but she had to admit that she'd stepped it up since getting to the cabins. Every day she seemed to be doing something, whether it be in the gym or salle or the flight shed. Maybe she was just working out frustrations or something.

Today she was working out with the bag again, mostly testing her own stamina. Occasionally she'd use the Force to add weight to a punch or a kick, just to see what she could do. Might as well get the trial and error out now so she was prepared if she really had to use it.

After a day in the library, Gladys made her way back to the camp. Her path took her past the gym and she stopped. She didn't say anything, just watched, but being seven foot tall with glowing eyes, she was pretty noticeable.

And being pretty observant, what with her eyes and all, Jaina definitely noticed her. She hadn't seen anyone like her before, but far be it from her to judge. "Hey," she said, a little out of breath. "Did you need the space?"

"No. I Did Not Mean To Interrupt You," she intoned, eyes flickering. "Did The Bag Do Something Wrong?"

Jaina had heard the expression joking plenty of times, but she got the impression she was serious. "No, it's just very good at its job," she said. "It's there to be hit."

"It Is Important To Be Good At Your Job. Why Are You Hitting It?" she asked.

"Practice," she explained, pushing a piece of hair out of her face. "In case I need to hit bad guys."

"It Is Also Important To Practice." Gladys seemed to perk up a bit, her eyes glowing brighter. "Are You In The Watch?"

She frowned. "The Watch?"

"They Are The People Who Patrol The City And Make Sure That Criminals Do Not Run Riot Through The Streets. This Sometimes Involves Hitting Bad Guys."

"Sort of," Jaina said. "I'm a Jedi. It's sort of like that, only without the patrol. And we get glowy swords."

"Mr Lipwig Had Views On The Watch, But It Is A Good Job That Makes A Difference," she said. "If A Jedi Is Like A Watchman, Then It Must Be A Good Job, Too." She paused. "Why Do The Swords Glow?"

"Because of the components, and the crystals involved," Jaina said. "It's kind of complicated, actually."

"Oh." Gladys considered that. "Do You Need Any Help While You Practice? I Could Hold The Bag Still While You Hit It."

Convinced to not let himself slack off this weekend like he did last weekend, but having at least enjoyed sleeping in like he figured any normal teenager should on a day without workshops, Cal dragged himself into the gym eventually. Since someone was already there, he decided to skip the warm up of forms for the sake of saving himself the embarrassment, and headed straight toward the weights. He wasn't too terribly surprised that the person already there was that Jaina girl, though, and he greeted her with a lift of his chin, and, hey. Even a lift of his hand, too, before taking to the bench.

Having nothing better to do, John was wandering in search of entertainment and stopped wandering when he found Jaina in the gym. Knowing she'd know he was there, he stood off to the side and watched for a moment.

"Sure," she said, gesturing to the bag. "What's your name?"

"I beat you today, huh?" Jaina greeted him. And realized she must probably look like a really violent person, with all he saw her hitting this bag.

All right, she might have been showing off a little bit once she realized he was there, but she was still getting work done. Once she'd delivered a series of impressive little hits to the bag just because she could, she stopped and greeted him with a breathless, "Hey."

"My Name Is Gladys." She moved to stand behind the bag and put one enormous hand on it and partially around it. "I Am A Golem."

"Today, maybe," Cal agreed with a slight grin as he wiped his hands together, and then down his shirt of a moment before lying down and taking a hold of the bar. He shifted a little, feet finding a good base, before grunting and lifting it off its holds. "I'm still at least one up on you."

Then he started a slow, steady rep, light weight, to warm up with; since there wasn't much strain in the lifting, his focus was trying to go mostly into making clean, precise movement. Trying. He was distracted by principle alone.

He was certainly impressed, and not just because it was her. "You're looking good there." So many ways to take that.

"Nice to meet you, Gladys," she said, deciding Gladys was pretty much the best spotter ever, probably. "I'm Jaina."

"Don't put it past me to me up at 0400 to beat you here," she said, still working the bag.

She of course took it pretty innocently. "Just imagine how I'll look by the end of the summer," she grinned.

"Aww," Cal smirked a little at his weight bar, "you'd do that just for me? I'm flattered."
