Near Sirius cabin, Monday morning

Trenor was a very bored horse. Not that he wasn't being looked after properly, but he missed his person, and he was sick of his stall and his yard. So he'd escaped and wandered into camp, in hopes of finding someone to give him treats. When he sniffed at the odd rock near one of the cabins he got quite a surprise.

It stood up.

Legs splayed, he stared at it in shock.

When it spoke, his ears pointed straight at it, and he quivered in astonishment.

"Horses Are Not Supposed To Walk Around Alone. You Should Be In Your Stable."

Trenor simply kept staring at her, and it was much too late when he finally decided to bolt.

Gladys reached out one massive hand and, with surprising delicacy, caught his halter. Trenor pulled back, but he was only a small gelding and Gladys was immovable object and irresistible force all rolled into one.

Even his attempt at passive resistance didn't work. Rather than drag him back to the stables, Gladys simply picked the horse up and put him over her shoulder. Trenor flailed his legs once, trying to leap off, but Gladys barely noticed. Balancing him carefully, she began to walk out of camp. "Now You Will Go Back To Your Stable."

Ears drooping, Trenor hung limply over her shoulder, whuffling to himself.

[ooc: Totally open! (Though it'll be SP in two hours cause I have to go to bed.) And yup, it's canon, a golem can easily carry a horse. Poor Trenor.]

River had gone for a walk when the golem carrying a horse caught her attention. It was impossible not to notice them; even if this was Fandom it did look a little odd.

"Morning," she greeted Gladys, smiling at her.

"Horses aren't used to being carried," River observed.

"Why not?" River took a bite out of the apple she had brought with her.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"He might want to dance," River pointed out, offering Trenor what remained of the apple.

"They do," River objected stubbornly.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"The also run in the grass, prance, follow each other, enjoying the movement. That is dancing." River smiled.

"But he needs exercise. Can't you take him running on the beach?" River asked. "He might also need his mane braided."

"He's Karal's horse, but Karal's not here." River figured this wouldn't be a good time to mention what they did for a living on Serenity.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
River grinned at Trenor. "Don't think Karal would mind," she commented quietly, but she guessed that wouldn't persuade the golem, and it really wasn't important.

[Night!]

River just giggled in reply.

"Golem philosophy." Yes, it was funny.

[Bedtime!]

"You have plenty of rules for right and wrong. Might be said to equal a philosophy." River smiled at Gladys.

This was one of the things that Cal had not expected to see on his way to the gym, and, shortly after he saw it, he wondered if it was something that he should have.

"Huh," he remarked, thoughtfully.

[identity profile] not-a-mused.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Cal was still trying to process this a little. His head tilted.

"...That's a lovely shawl you have there," he muttered, deadpan, although an eyebrow did quirk.

[identity profile] not-a-mused.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Cal really couldn't help offering the horse a slightly sympathetic look. "Maybe he doesn't want to be in the stable," he suggested with a shrug. He certainly couldn't imagine the horse being too happy about going there in this fashion, either.

[identity profile] not-a-mused.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Cal eyed the horse a little warily. He'd known girls who'd had little places in the country where they'd go riding, but he certainly wasn't one of them and the snort quickly staved off any possible thoughts of pats. "Wild horses," he pointed out. "Wild horses run around loose all the time..."

[identity profile] not-a-mused.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Better for everyone?" Cal asked, quirking an eyebrow as he scratched his head a little bit. "What? Was he trampling over everyone's herb gardens, munching on flowers in the window boxes?"

[identity profile] not-a-mused.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
"...You could damage him," Cal pointed out, "carrying him like that. I don't think horses usually like that. I would argue that I'm not certain, as I've never been a horse, but...I have, so..."

He trailed off a little, and then shook his head, waved his hand. "You know what? You're probably right. I'll just let you get back to what you were doing and stay out of matters like proper horse locations."

[identity profile] not-a-mused.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Cal blinked a few times as he rather unwittingly seemed to have lead the horse into a more comfortable position and wondered if he should give it a look that told it that it should have appreciated his half-assed efforts. He didn't, though, but he did give it a look like it had better let itself be lead unless it really did like being picked up by whatever this thing he was talking to was.

"It does have a halter," Cal agreed, nodding. "Best use it, I guess, especially if you're using it as a charge against his ultimate freedom."

[identity profile] not-a-mused.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Uh...no problem?" Cal figured that was as good enough response as any, tipping a bit of a wave to the golem thing and the horse as they continued on their way. His head shook slightly as he pursued his own path, thinking that there certainly wasn't ever really a truly dull day around here.
