Scorpius Campfire, Saturday afternoon
Rodney got hit in the head with a gumdrop as soon as he walked outside. He frowned at the sky for a moment before shrugging and going back inside.
A few minutes later, Rodney returned to the campfire armed with a large beach umbrella, a bucket, and a laptop. He set up the umbrella over a seat and placed the bucket just outside the covered area. After settling himself as comfortably as possible, he popped open his computer and began working. Periodically, he reached into the bucket and ate a random piece of candy. He wasn't all that picky about sweets so he really only paid enough attention to what kind of candy it was to make sure he didn't accidentally eat a lemon drop. That would be bad.
[Yes, Rodney does actually live here. His mun's He's just been antisocial. Campfire is open!]

"How've you been?" That was the real question.

Oh blast it--
"Myself, generally. Alive, mostly. I'm glad you're well. The candy has been... interesting, to say the least."

He paused and realized his own mistake.
"The Pony wasn't all that terrible, though. Four legs was disorienting, but at least we didn't lose the ability to speak."

"Yes, that was a bit tiresome. Especially as I had wings.
"They were, despite their size, capable of flight, though. It made for an interesting time."

"She just wanted to know why I was laying in the grass," he answered with a short shrug of his shoulders.
"She's very nice, though," he felt he should add.

For one, it was the truth. For another, he couldn't rightly figure out another reason he would have been doing it.
"I didn't have the, er, best trip to Oz the other weekend."

He smiled encouragingly. He had a rather awkward tendency to touch on painful subjects himself.
"I handled myself. But thank you for the concern."
