Second Floor Common Room, Monday Afternoon

Bowl of cereal in hand, Andrew flopped down on a couch and turned on the television. He flipped through the channels, finally landing on an episode of Dirty Jobs.

"Oh, Mike," Andrew said aloud, "I do so appreciate you reassuring me that life isn't that bad." He could always be working in a waste water treatment plant.

He sighed and tugged on his shorts. Going commando wasn't nearly as comfortable as he thought it would be.

After a fruitless morning spent searching for her unmentionables, Gwen made her way downstairs to the common room. "Afternoon," she said, smiling as she found somewhere to sit down.

"Hi," Andrew said. "Feel free to change the channel. I was just feeling me some Mike Rowe this morning."

"No, it's fine as is." Gwen hadn't really noticed the program before, but now she did. "Very fine. He's a bit alright."

"He's all rugged and... dirty," he said with a nod. "And his voice can be strangely hypnotic." He smiled at Gwen. "Of course, it would be hotter if he had an accent like yours." Not South African, he reminded himself.

"I can see why someone would want to feel him," Gwen agreed, tilting her head thoughtfully. "Yes, I can see where that would be very nice."

"Do you have many men like that back in..." Where was she from again? "... Cartilage?"

"Cardiff," Gwen corrected absently. "Some, but definitely not enough of them. What about in Sunnydale?"

"Sure, we get tall dark and handsome," he said. "But in the back of your mind, you always have to wonder if he's going to want to drink your blood, so it kind of ruins the overall effect."

Gwen winced. "It would rather."

"So how are you finding the dorms?" he asked. Andrew was rather happy to be back. The cabin situation had just gotten to be way too awkward.

"More private, even with a roommate," Gwen replied, then, shooting a glare in Worf's direction, added "Who's better company than some too."

"How about you?" she asked. "Having any troubles?"

"I don't have a roommate," he said, frowning as soon as the words came out. "I had a roommate but he, um, he's gone now. And last semester my boyfriend, um, at the time, was pretty much living there, but..." He shrugged, not really knowing what else to say.

He was suddenly very interested in the contents of his bowl.

"But you broke up?" Gwen asked softly, trying not to push. "That's always hard."

"Yeah," he said. It was one of the hardest things he had done, but he just had to keep reminding himself that his reasons were good. Right?

"So it's a bachelor pad now," he continued. "Complete with requisite action figure displays."

Gwen smiled. "Just the thing any bachelor pad needs," she agreed. "I bet Mister Rowe there would be envious."

"You think?" he asked brightly. "Maybe if I messed my room real bad, he'll stop in." It was an idea.

"I think there'd be a chance," Gwen replied, grinning.

Andrew sighed and sank back down into the couch, gazing at the television. "A boy can dream," he said... dreamily. And after this past couple of weeks, he figured dreaming was about the safest thing he could do.

"Boys suck," he concluded randomly and aloud.

"Most of them grow out of it eventually," Gwen offered, before remembering that as far as anyone knew she was still shy of sixteen and hurriedly tacking on "Or so I've heard."

"I hope so," he replied, as though he was already perfectly mature.

"Are you single?" he asked.

Gwen nodded. "Currently," she said. "I had a" husband "boyfriend back in Wales, but that's over. Just one of those things."
