Second Floor Common Room, Monday Afternoon

Bowl of cereal in hand, Andrew flopped down on a couch and turned on the television. He flipped through the channels, finally landing on an episode of Dirty Jobs.

"Oh, Mike," Andrew said aloud, "I do so appreciate you reassuring me that life isn't that bad." He could always be working in a waste water treatment plant.

He sighed and tugged on his shorts. Going commando wasn't nearly as comfortable as he thought it would be.

"Oh, good," Ned said, stupidly relieved that he looked clean. And, after a slight hesitation, he took a seat. "What kind of cereal?"

Andrew shrugged. "The common room is pretty well stocked. I guess it depends on if you like things super sweet or more full of fibery goodness."

"Sweet, definitely," Ned said quickly. "I get enough fiber."

He didn't know where he was getting the fiber but it seemed like a good answer.

"I get so much fiber, that I have...the exact opposite of a fiber deficiency."

Which didn't make much sense but no one said Ned ever made sense.

"Sweets, yeah."

Andrew hopped up and went over to the cabinets. "So do you like a lot of milk or just a splash." People could be very particular about their cereal.

He grabbed the Fruity Oh's, being that it was what he was having and he was finding it to be very tasty.

"A lot," Ned answered. "Enough to cover the cereal and make the milk a different color. That's how I used to eat it when I was home."

He grinned. "Ah, a man after my own heart," he said, pouring the milk slowly while gently using a spoon to tap the cereal under the liquid. Otherwise it would all just float up and spill out of the bowl.

"And I'm pretty sure this lacks anything resembling actual fiber, so it'll do your fiber over-ficiency some good."

"Nice milk pouring skills," Ned commented., smiling a little. "No splashing or anything. You've done this before."

He grabbed a napkin and presented the bowl to Ned. "It could very well be my calling in life," he said. "Maybe I can open a restaurant that only serves cereal." That would be cool.

"Thanks," Ned said, taking the bowl with a smile and nod. "People underestimate how much they want cereal, I think. You could call it...Bowl and Go!"

That needed work.

"Yeah, you could totally call it something like that," Andrew agreed, also thinking that there had to be something better. "We should develop a business plan. How do you feel about partnerships?" He grinned, moving back to his spot in front of the television.

"I can bake pies," Ned said, taking a few bites of the cereal. "Cereal and pie. Do they go together?"

"It's all part of the business model," Andrew replied, like he actually knew something about it, which he didn't.

"Can you make a pie using cereal?" Because that could just be delicious.

"I bet I could," Ned said thoughtfully. "The cereal would have to be the filling. And it couldn't be just cereal. There'd have to be something to keep it together or mix it with."

"What about... pudding? It's dairy based, right?" And something Andrew would totally want to eat.

"I would be more than happy to be a taster if you ever decide to experiment."

"A pudding cereal pie?" Ned said, thinking over how that would work in his head. "What kind of pudding?"

"You, good sir, are the pie expert here. I'm thinking the type of pudding should be your call. But it would also depend on the kind of cereal, right? Like these Fruity Oh's might be good with, say, something fruity, like lemon. Something like Cocoa Puffs could be great with vanilla or chocolate." He had a lot of opinions.

"Good ideas," Ned said, tapping the side of his head with his finger like that helped the thought processes. "The types would determine cooking times and temperatures. I wouldn't want to burn pudding and cereal. I might try one of these this week. I haven't gotten to really bake since I got here."

"We have a pretty well equipped kitchen here," Andrew said, nodding towards it. "Are you on the second floor?" Andrew lived right next to the common room, and loved being able to prop open his door to smells of delicious things being fixed in the kitchen.

"213," Ned answered, nodding. "We can use these kitchens?"

"We can," Andrew replied. "I'm Andrew, by the way." He couldn't recall if he had said that or not, or, for that matter, if he had met Ned yet. The past few weeks had been pretty much horrible.

"I'm Ned," he said, giving a little wave to stave off any attempts at a handshake that might happen. "Good to meet you, Andrew. You on the second floor too?"

"I am," he said with a nod. "I'm right out that door in room 201. Feel free to stop by whenever." Andrew felt rather lonely in his room at the moment.

"I have video games," he added.

"Video games?" Ned repeated. "Like Pac Man video games?"

It'd been awhile since he'd played anything like that.

"Um, no," Andrew replied. "Like Boom! and other first person shooters." He quirked an eyebrow. "I could probably download a flash version of Pac Man for you if that's more your speed," he offered.

"No, no, that's okay," Ned said. "Last time I played video games, it was Pac Man and it was for maybe ten minutes. I haven't played video games in...years."

Poor sheltered Ned.
